Sickles freshman Thomas Bly tosses a pitch at George M. Steinbrenner Field in Saturday’s 2-1 win against Durant (362).

We caught a few games of the pool-play rounds of the Steinbrenner Wood Bat Classic this weekend. The annual event is traditionally a 16-team tournament, but because of the pandemic, has shifted to a pair of eight-team events held on back-to-back weeks. Through the opening pool of the first weekend tournament, Jesuit went undefeated in it’s pool, while Pinellas County’s East Lake is the runner up, while on the opposite side, Jefferson and Sickles each finished 2-0-1 and advanced to the semifinal rounds.

We took in a few games on Saturday and Sunday and wanted to share some of the action…

Our tour across the 813 has included a lot of great action out there from Fall Ball camps. We hope you are enjoying the BEST high school baseball coverage around here on 813Preps.com. We love what we do, but to cover as much as we do takes tons of effort. So if you are able, we’d love if you’d consider supporting this independent journalism site.
