Elijah Dukes three-run home run put the Wildcats offense ahead early as Wharton coasted to a decisive district win Tuesday afternoon. Dukes would also score a run in the sixth on a Tyson Sutton RBI sac fly to make the game a mercy-rule. Wildcats senior Zach Ehrhard had a fifth-inning grand slam, David Limbach was 2-for-2 with two RBI, Dylan McDonald homered in the sixth to push the game way out of reach for Palm Harbor, and Evan Chrest pitched five innings, allowing two unearned runs, and struck out six. Hurricans senior Jake Mummau hit a three-run home run in the sixth inning.

Colby Fanning (W, 3ip, five K’s), Zack Vincent and Zach Redner combined for a no-hitter for Strawberry Crest as the Chargers won a district game at Tampa Bay Tech. Arjun Nimmala hit his 11th double of the season, driving in a pair in a five-run first to provide the offense needed for the pitching staff. Ray Allen Vazquez doubled and drove in a run, and Daniel Lastres had a two-run pinch hit.

Berkeley Prep sophomore Cade Kurland hit his fourth homer of the season – his third-straight game with a dinger, and Drew Canody had three singles (two that drove in a run) to spark the Buccaneers offense to a win, while Matt Mulfinger struck out seven to earn his sixth win of the year. Andrew DiMisa singled in a run, and earned the save with two innings to finish off the game.

Caleb Johnson had a two-run and three-run double in an explosive first inning as Bayshore Christian earned its first win of the season, and also pitched two, no-hit innings of relief. Niko Fernandez went 2-for-2 at the plate and pitched three innings to earn the win, and Donovan Kolbe was 1-for-3 with an RBI and scored twice.

Sophomore Jake Kulikowski’s fifth dinger of the season, a three-run shot put Jesuit on the path to victory against district opponent Jefferson. Bradke Lohry hit a solo home run, AJ Nessler went 2-for-2 with a run and RBI, and Joey Volini allowed on hit and struck out five in four innings earning the win. Jefferson scored two runs in the fifth without picking up a hit in the frame.

After scoring one in the seventh on an error, Hans Walker pushed the Indians lead to three with a two-run single as East Bay rallied late for a win in South Tampa. Tanner Elizondo scattered five hits, across five scoreless innings of relief to earn the win on the mound. Kevin Blowers had a solo home run for the Knights, and Jeremiah Henderson was 2-for-3 with a run scored.

Jacob Thomas pitched 6 1/3 innings, allowing one run and striking out seven to earn the district win. Salvy Urso took the loss, pitching seven complete with Adrian Arroyo driving in Hillsborough’s lone run.
