FACA All-Stars, Players and Coaches of the Year

TAMPA – Plant OF/P Jac Caglianone, Wharton SS Zach Ehrhard and Alonso 1B Zen Hiatt have been selected as the three representatives to the annual Florida Athletic Coaches Association Senior All-Star Game from District 15 (Hillsborough County) in a vote by area FACA member coaches.

Caglianone, a 6-foot-5, 210-pound, left-hander signed with Florida was the top vote getter for the district and earns area MVP honors.

The trio will have earned spots in the two-day FACA Baseball All-Star Challenge showcase event for seniors will be held at Tigertown in Lakeland on June 5-6.

Also receiving votes is a list of alternates, selected by position. Alternates (listed in order of votes received) may be selected by area scouts to attend the all-star event:
Pitchers: Sean Hermann, Durant; Kris Sosnowski, Jesuit; Jose Pena, Tampa Prep; Alden Segui, Jesuit.
Catchers: Cole Russo, Jesuit; Tayden Hall, Steinbrenner.
Infielders: Bradke Lohry, Jesuit; Dylan McDonald, Wharton.
Outfielders/Utility: RJ Gutierrez, Leto; Colby Fanning, Strawberry Crest.

The FACA coaches have also selected the area Players and Coaches of the Year by classification for the 2021 season, those players and coaches are listed below:

Zach Ehrhard and Elijah Dukes, Wharton (Staff Pick POTW) – The Wildcats duo had a homer in both wins over Palm Harbor and Freedom last week, driving in 10, scoring six, with Dukes also stealing a base.

Jake Kulikowski, Jesuit – The Tigers sophomore hit his fifth homer of the season in last Tuesday’s win over Jefferson, and was 3-for-4 against Berkeley Prep, with a double and two RBI.

Dontavious Johnson, King – The Lions senior went 2-for-3 with a double and triple, and three RBI against Sumner, while pitching a complete-game, allowing one run and striking out seven.

Manny Dooley, East Bay – After falling behind three runs to Newsome, Dooley entered in relief for the Indians and allowed just three hits across five shutout innings as East Bay rallied for a 5-3 victory.
