Our weekly Player of the Week list returns – this year sponsored by our friends at Play-It-Again Sports – Brandon. Each week our staff pick and one “fan pick” will be selected and awarded an 813Preps T-shirts (as well as sweet bragging rights). Coaches (and only coaches) can send their nominees to us at jarrettguthrie@813preps.com by no later than Monday morning. Stats for consideration are for games held Mon-Sat the previous week.

Staff Pick PotW – each week our 813Preps staff will select our “staff pick” of the five standout performers from the previous week:

Dylan LaPointe, Durant

In a 2-1 week for Durant, the junior C/1B was 6-for-10 with a pair of homers, eight RBI, a walk and a stolen base. He is hitting .405 on the year with 17 RBI.

Thomas Bolton, Plant

The Panthers senior SS/RHP went 6-for-8, with three RBI, and two runs, a double, while also pitching 5 1/3 innings of relief to earn the win against Alonso. He is now 4-0 on the year.

Mattie Counts, Lennard

Paced the Longhorns to a pair of wins last week going 4-for-5, with two doubles, three RBI, scored three runs against Brandon and Durant.

Luke Richardson, Strawberry Crest

The junior right-hander tossed a complete-game two-hitter as Crest defeated Freedom 1-0 last week. In six appearances Richardson is 4-0 with a 1.21 ERA and 25 strikeouts.

Jack Weber, Newsome

The Wolves senior righty struck out eight in a complete-game shutout against Plant City last week. In five appearances this year, Weber is 2-1 with a 0.38 ERA and 22 strikeouts.
