Jackson Mirza was hit by a pitch, stole second and eventually scored on a wild pitch to give Gaither the edge on the road at Chamberlain. Mirza, Miguel Pina and Scout Simpson (RBI) singled in succession in the fifth, giving the Cowboys pitching tandem of Timothy Valdes (2.2ip, 3 K) and Zach Callahan (2.1ip, 3 K) all the support they would need in a game that finished five before being called due to weather.

Coltin Pizzio led off the home-first with the first of his two singles, scoring the deciding run and securing his uncle, Falcons’ coach JJ Pizzio’s 200th win at Leto. BJ Rivera struck out 11 in six innings, allowing just three hits before Brayan Cruz struck out the side in the seventh inning.

Adan Longoria struck out six in four scoreless innings, and Preston Rogers finished off the final three, allowing just one run and also striking out six as the Raiders defeated Steinbrenner in a makeup game from Saturday. Collin Shultz RBI double got the Raiders going in the fifth and Plant City added the deciding run as Jace Stines scored on a wild pitch two batters later. Evan Cuervo lead off the sixth with a double and scored on a line drive single by Kyle Suda, but the Warriors couldn’t bring in an equalizer. Senior Richard Gonzalez was tagged with a tough loss, allowing two unearned run and striking out three for Steinbrenner.

Wildcats senior Vijay Wadhwani worked out of a bases loaded jam with three-straight strikeouts to preserve Wharton’s one-run home victory against Hillsborough. Wharton spotted the Terriers a four-run inning before clawing its way back into the game and into the lead with a big fifth inning. Senior Elijah Dukes had an RBI double and Jake Turer had an RBI groundout to tie the game at four, before the Wildcats employed a double-steal resulting in Billy Eich scoring what would prove to be the deciding run. Elijah Burs was 2-for-4 for the Terriers with a double and two RBI.

(5) Strawberry Crest 1 (suspended; weather)

Lightning put a halt to Monday’s 6A-7 row between Bloomingdale and Strawberry Crest in the middl of the fifth inning. Strawberry Crest struck first as Zach Redner singled in Eli Vickers in the opening inning. Bloomingdale took a lead in the third as Bobby Rossi singled in a pair of runs and smartly took second on the throw. Senior Jack Owens helped his cause with an RBI single in the fourth, and was causing with seven strikeouts through four innings. As of publication, no official restart has been planned for this game with Chargers coach Eric Beattie saying he expects a decision to be made on Tuesday morning. We will update on Twitter when the restart is scheduled.
