Staff Pick PotW – each week our 813Preps staff will select our “staff pick” of the five standout performers from the previous week:

Raul Olivera, Freedom

The Patriots senior was 7-for-10, scoring five runs in Freedom’s three-win week; he had a double, three stolen bases. Olivera leads the Patriots hitters with a .435 average, 17 stolen bases and 21 runs scored.

Rivers Kurland, Berkeley Prep

The Buccaneers freshman pitched 4 1/3 innings of relief in two games last week earning two saves as Berkeley defeated Tampa Prep and Cleveland’s St. Ignatius. He has 27 strikeouts to just three walks in 20-plus innings this season.

AJ Nessler, Jesuit

The Tigers senior reached base in all five plate appearances last week at Calvary Christian as Jesuit won an extra-inning game on Nessler’s RBI hit in the top of the eighth.

Arjun Nimmala, Strawberry Crest

Returning to the Chargers lineup after a wrist injury, the junior homered and had two doubles last week driving in eight in a pair of Strawberry Crest wins.

Coltin Pizzio, Leto

In the Falcons lone game last week, Pizzio’s eighth-inning, three-run homer pushed the game well out of reach. Pizzio also scored three times in the game and is hitting .410 in his fourth season as a varsity starter.
