Jefferson 6, #1 Sickles 5

Dragons senior Alejandro Aguilar was 4-for-4, with a home run, an RBI single and two runs scored as Jefferson defeated Sickles on the road on Tuesday. The two teams went back-and-forth with Aguilar’s solo home run in the fifth and a CJ Padilla RBI sac fly giving the Dragons the lead for good. Connor Vance homered for the Gryphons in the loss. Mikey Marroquin earned his first win of the season, pitching four innings, before John Valle finished the final three innings, allowing one unearned run to pickup the save. The night also had an unfortunate injury when reigning All-813Preps Player of the Year, Caden McDonald, was struck by a comebacker to the mound in the second inning and was forced from the game. Senior Leyton Parmer‘s RBI double in the first started off a four-run frame for Cambridge Christian and the Lancers held off a late Phoenix rally to take a 4-3 win. Parmer pitched well, striking out eight before running into some trouble in the seventh inning, Zack McQuiston entered in relief and Brooks DeBartolo  got the tying run to third, before the senior ended the game with a strikeout. Joel Kubinsky singled in a run and Aidan Alessi drove in two for the Lancers in the first. Van Gannon singled in a run for Brooks DeBartolo, and Joseph DiCecco pitched 3 1/3 of no-hit relief, striking out two.

Andrew Bunner hit his third double of the season in SLAM’s win at Canterbury, as the sophomore was 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored. Sophomore Adonys Nova picked up the win, pitching three innings, and allowing just one hit and finishing with five strikeouts. Freshman Ayden Rivera pitched two scoreless, hitless innings of relief to earn his first save.

Senior David Ascano had two RBI hits in Wharton’s win at home, including the game winning in the firth. The Wildcats stretched out an early lead and got a solid start from freshman Chase Andress who tossed four no-hit innings, issuing one walk and striking out seven. King put up five, fifth-inning runs highlighted by a two-run single from Koveyontez Balentine, and an RBI hit from Jayden Hill (his second single of the inning).

Coop Hinson singled in the first inning and scored the winning run on a wild pitch, before Dawson Rankin singled in another, giving Bloomingdale all it needed to turn away Brandon on Tuesday. Senior Trey Wilson fired six scoreless innings, giving up four hits and struck out seven before turning things over to Johnny De La Rosa, who pitched a clean seventh inning. Rankin added some insurance in the fifth with a line drive single into center. Brandon junior Marlon Garcia struck out nine for the Eagles, pitching 4 1/3 innings.

Sheffield was 3-for-4, also hitting an RBI single in the win, while Grant Jordan was 2-for-4 with an RBI and DJ Pirela was 2-for-3 with a triple and run scored. Adan Knowles tossed five innings on the mound allowing one unearned on one hit, and striking out seven, before McCall Biemiller and Wilson Anderson each struck out two in scoreless innings of relief.
