TAMPA – Chamberlain High has selected its next baseball coach as Stephen Martin will take over the Storm for the 2024 season. Martin, a Chamberlain alum (c/o 2010) and pitcher, has been a member of the school’s staff, teaching in the physical education department.

“I am incredibly blessed and thankful for the opportunity to come back home to Chamberlain,” he said. “This school helped shape me into the man I am today and I’m excited for the chance to get to work and make Chamberlain great again.”

He’ll replace Martin Ortega, who stepped down on Thursday after three seasons leading the Storm (click here to read more).

Martin recently accepted the softball coaching position at Chamberlain prior to this school year, and said he will be active in helping the school fill the that vacancy in the upcoming weeks.

Newsome coach Dick Rohrberg said he was happy for his former Wolves assistant wished him luck in his new role at Chamberlain – a post Rohrberg himself held in the early 2000s.

“I’m glad Stephen is getting the chance to run his own program,” Rohrberg said. “He has definitely paid his dues coaching and running showcases with me, working camps and managing travel ball tournaments. I think he has developed a great background and will make an excellent head coach.”

Chamberlain posted an 11-13 record last season.
