Brooks DeBartolo’s Van Gannon singled in the first run in the top of the first as the Phoenix took control early and held off IRC on the road. Gannon went 2-for-5 with two RBI, and a run scored, Messiah Williams pitched 4 2/3 innings, allowing two earned runs and struck out three to earn the win, and freshman Eric Garcia closed out the win striking out six batters.

Carrollwood Day’s Nick Riedel struck out 11 in 5 2/3 innings on the mound as the Patriots put up nine runs in support. Riedel supported his own cause, driving in the game’s first run in the second, while senior Nick Bonollo went 3-for-4, with a double, triple and four RBI, JD Howard was 2-for-3 with a triple, RBI and scored three, Christian Clarke drove in a pair, and Wyatt Weston was 1-for-2 with a walk and two runs scored.

Berkeley Prep sophomore Parker Mitzel was 3-for-3 with a walk, two homers and a double, while driving in four and scoring three times as the Buccaneers exacted some revenge against Tampa Prep (after dropping the season opener to the Terrapins). Mitzel also picked up the save, as the Bucs stayed ahead just enough as Tampa Prep scored four runs in the final two innings. Rivers Kurland was 2-for-4, driving in a pair, Nolan Metcalf  was 2-for-4 with a double, and George Cook singled in the game’s first run, and scored twice for Berkeley Prep. Freshman Jett Walters pitched 5 2/3 innings and got the win, allowing four runs on five hits, with six strikeouts. Tampa Prep’s Ignacio Gonzalez drove in three, including a two-run home run in the seventh inning, and Derek Stiglich was 2-for-3 with a run and RBI.

Sickles scored a run in each of the third inning, with Cameron Guise‘s RBI single to center giving the Gryphons the necessary run to take the win at home. Guise would go 2-for-3 and score twice, Jaden Nazar was 2-for-2, and Michael Bynum drove in a pair with a single in the fifth, before Will Lichtenfels doubled in his team’s final run. Logan Easterlin worked four scoreless innings, picking up the win, while allowing one hit, two walks, and striking out three. Jake Taylor (2ip, 3 K’s) and Ben Durda (1ip, 1 H, 1 K) provided scoreless relief for the Gryphons. Connor Cress doubled for the Patriots, and Gaige Spano pitched 1 1/3 innings of scoreless relief.
