#6 Jesuit 2, Calvary Christian 1

Run-scoring singles by Zane Pestalozzi and Will Burke gave Jesuit just enough as the Tigers toppled its second MaxPreps Florida Top 10-ranked team of the week with a win on the road at Calvary Christian. Junior Wilson Andersen, whose season debut was delayed due to a non-pitching arm injury, stretched out for his deepest start of the season, going five innings, yielding an unearned run on five hits and a walk and struck out five to earn his first win of the year. Sophomore Kaden Waechter recorded his second save of the week (fourth overall), working two no-hit innings of relief with a strikeout. Calvary Christian junior Grayson Gibson gave up two runs on just three hits in his six innings on the mound, finishing with six strikeouts; and senior Andrew Tess was 3-for-4, with an RBI for the Warriors.

#4 Plant 3, #10 Bloomingdale 0

Plant senior Garrett Hill has been nothing short of amazing in his last five starts – all wins – including Friday’s complete-game five-hitter against visiting Bloomingdale. Across that stretch, Hill hasn’t allowed an earned run in 29 innings (two unearned against Strawberry Crest five starts ago), and his four strikeouts against the Bulls put him at 46 for the year. The Panthers offense put Hill at ease with three runs in the second, a Jackson Cucchi single started things followed by a walk before an RBI single by Connor Fulmino plated the eventual-decider. Urban Ellis lined a two-run double into right to add the insurance in the second. Vinny Dinzeo Jr. was 2-for-3 with a double for Bloomingdale, Javier Navas-Hoyer pitched 2 1/3 scoreless innings, and James Osting came on in relief and his defense got a quick double-play.

#9 Seffner Christian 7, St. Pete Shorecrest Prep 5

Just the second, two-game home run drought for Seffner Christian’s Addy Scott this season, ended as the senior belted his state-leading 12th of the season in a win against Shorecrest Prep. The first home run for 8th grader Kaleb WIlliams (2-for-4) kicked off a four-run fourth for the Crusaders, with a run on an error and a two-run single by Garrett Morgan put enough distance between the two, for SCA to survive a rally attempt from the Chargers. William Rudometkin (Win; 3.2ip, 4 K’s) and Austin Trimble (Sv; 3.1ip, 5 K’s) each gave up one earned run apiece.
