Berkeley Prep advances to next week’s Region Final series
After hitting a double and a homer in Friday’s Game 1 win, Berkeley Prep senior Carson Binder again lead the offense with three hits, a home run and six RBI as the No. 1-seed Buccaneers advanced next weekend’s region final. Binder’s two-run single in the first got the Bucs going, then added an RBI single in the fifth and a three-run homer (his fifth) as a part of Berkeley’s nine-run sixth. Jett Walters (three runs) hit a solo home run; LJ Ulmer hit a two-run blast; and George Cook (2-for-4, three RBI, two runs) hit a two-run homer in the win. Riley Zinober was 2-for-3 with two runs scored; Lucas Farrar was 2-for-3, with an RBI and three runs; and Nolan Parmer got the win, allowing two earned runs over 4 1/3 innings, with three strikeouts.

Jefferson 3 – six innings
Calvary Christian answered an early Jefferson burst with a five-run second and the Warriors never looked back. Tripp Fecarotta‘s RBI single gave Calvary the lead and Luke Straw (3-for-5, two doubles, two RBI) doubled in a run to provide some separation; Jack Hunter was 3-for-3 with two RBI and three runs scored in the win; Matthew Bowser went 1-for-2, with two walks and scored three runs; and Jase Traina was 2-for-5 with two RBI. Straw pitched four shutout innings of relief, allowed two hits and struck out four. Jefferson got on the board in the first on RBI doubles from Ethan Savinon and Elijah Benton, and an RBI single by John Oliver, but got just two more hits the rest of the game. Calvary Christian will host Coconut Creek North Broward Prep in the best-of-three region final series beginning next Friday.

Jesuit advances to next weekend’s Region Final series
Jesuit senior Wilson Andersen was a double away from a cycle, including a two-run triple in the first inning, a solo home run in the third, and a two-run single in the seventh to lead the Tigers to a region semifinal series win against Seminole. The Mississippi State signee now leads the Tigers with 31 RBI and has 16 extra-base hits. He also improved to 9-2 on the mound with a seven-inning, two hit shutout while striking out 12. Ben Burke was 1-for-2 with two walks, a stolen base and two runs scored; Bryce Besece drove in a run with a sac fly in the first; and Brady Marshall had a double in the win.

East Bay battled, but couldn’t hold off the steady offense of Charlotte losing the region semifinal series in two games. The two teams traded three-run first innings, but the Tarpons pulled away with a four-run second inning and kept building on. Connor Gavigan was 2-for-3 for the Indians and scored three times; Johnathan Bryant hit two doubles and rove in a run; and Ethan Cunningham doubled in two runs.

Freedom advances to next week’s region final at Punta Gorda Charlotte
Palmetto Ridge pulled away in game two with a six-run ninth inning, but Freedom pulled away in the deciding Game 3 to advance to the program’s first region final, where the Patriots will face Punta Gorda Charlotte beginning next Friday. The patriots stretched out a one-run lead in the fourth as David Simpkins (3-for-4, RBI, three runs) doubled and scored, Devon Acord (3-for-4, two RBI), Brady Hall and Sebastian Price singled in runs; Parker Crafton was 2-for-4 with a run and RBI; Gavin Tarr had an RBI double and Luke Ledford was 2-for-4 with a run scored. Trent Strawser pitched five innings and allowed two earned runs, and Keven Made pitched the final two innings, allowing one run on three hits with one strikeout.

Martin County senior Zane Moody scattered six Bloomingdale hits and struck out five in a complete-game shutout as the Tigers advanced to the region finals winning the series 2-0. John Thornton IV hit a solo home run in the bottom of the first to give the Tigers the lead for good. Vaughn Osting allowed two runs on just four hits and had seven strikeouts in the loss, and hit a double on offense. Saul Aponte and Payton Jennings were both 2-for-3 for Bloomingdale in the loss.
