SLAM sophomore Zack Walker delivered a gem going five innings and striking out four, after allowing an unearned run in the first as the Spartans defeated Largo at home. Leadoff Andrew Bunner hit a single and scored a run in the third and added a solo homer for Slam in the fifth inning.

A pitcher’s duel in Ruskin saw Plant’s Garrett Hill toss a complete-game as the Panthers answered a second inning run from Tampa Catholic with a pair of runs on two Crusaders errors. The run against Hill was also unearned as the junior worked around six hits and no walks, striking out a pair. For TC, Roman Corinti pitched five innings, also striking out two, while giving up two hits.

Logan Covey led off the home-sixth with a double and scored on a balk, before Lennard padded its late lead with an RBI single from Joseph Rivera. Alex Brazer hit a three-run homer and Mattie Counts scored twice in the Longhorns win. Christopher Morgan had two hits, scored twice and drove in a run for the Ravens, BJ Rivera and Jaden Nazar each doubled and drove in a run in the loss. The Ravens hold the head-to-head tie-breaker over the other 2-1 Pool A team, Plant, and advance to Wednesday’s Gold Division semifinal facing Sickles at Strawberry Crest at 7pm.

Robinson gave Sickles all it could handle, but the Gryphons got going in the sixth as Hayden Yost tripled in a run, scored on a Thomas Bly ground ball, a took the lead on an RBI single from Justin Allen. Brady Capps drove in a run for the Knights, and Russell Sandefer pitched a complete game, striking out four.

Durant loaded the bases in the ninth inning and earned the win on four base-on-balls. Preston Rodgers pitched six innings, striking out nine in a no decision, before Lonnie Coburn pitched three scoreless innings to earn the win with four strikeouts and just one hit allowed. Jefferson’s Cam Mallo drove in a pair, and Alliuq Troupe and Joseph Fritz had a hit and run apiece. Mikey Marroquin struck out four in seven innings of work, allowing three runs (one earned) on three hits.

Jesuit put up a five run second inning to dispatch Gaither and finish pool play 3-0, advancing to Wednesday’s Gold Division semifinal where the Tigers will host Newsome at 7pm. Jacob Lozano, DJ Pirela, and Josh Hines each singled in runs, Wes Mendes had an RBI double, and Jake Kulikowski rounded out the big inning with an RBI sac fly. Vince Decarlo had two doubles in the win, Brooks Chamberlain picked up his third win pitching five innings, allowing one run and striking out four, Ryan Thompson struck out four in 1 1/3 innings, allowing one run on one hit, and Derek Westfall finished off the win to earn his third save. Scout Simpson and Nico Lopez each singled and drove in a run for Gaither, and Steven Rojas tossed a complete game, striking out five in the loss.
