Tampa Prep 7, Atlanta (Ga) Lovett 6

Tampa Prep dug itself out of a hole with a five-run fifth inning to earn a win against Georgia’s Lovett. Langston Sallis singled in one, before Will Jennewein (3-for-4, two runs) and Ignacio Gonzalez drove in two with singles. Early in the game, Liam Akins doubled in the Terrapins first run. Koy Fogg picked up the win in relief, allowing one run in two innings, and Kyle Brill earned his second save, striking out three in two innings.

Carrollwood Day scored a first-inning run when Steven Vargo led off with a double and scored when Christian Clarke singled into center, and got a combined shutout effort from Gabe Troya (W, 4.2ip, two hits, one walk, five strikeouts) and Logan Babb (Sv, 2.1ip, no hits, two strikeouts). Ethan Heintz tripled and scored on an error, and JD Howard singled in the Patriots final hit.

Robinson piled on late to win on the road at St. Petersburg Catholic, while Sebastian Rojas (5ip, four hits, three strikeouts) and Brady Hardin finished the final two innings, allowing no hits and striking out one to earn the save. The Knights manufactured a run in the fifth when Luke Hursey scored after singling, moving on a sac bunt and passed ball, before scoring the deciding run on a wild pitch. Brady Capps and Samuel Hyman hit back-to-back doubles to add another run, and put up seven, seventh-inning runs, highlighted by another double by Capps to plate a pair.

The Falcons put up 13 hits and 10 runs, started off by an RBI double from Caleb Rodriguez, who was 3-for-4 in the game with an RBI single, and added a two-RBI double. Junior Arley Duran went 3-for-4, with a two-run homer, an RBI single, a run scored and a stolen base for Leto. Brooks DeBartolo was in it early, cutting the lead to a run in the third inning when the Phoenix got a two-run double from Van Gannon. Joe DiCecco and Messiah Williams added RBI singles in the fifth to again cut the deficit to one, but the Falcons added five runs in the final two innings to close out the win.
