Tampa Catholic junior Vincent Docobo got the Crusaders offense started with an RBI double in the first and came through again in the fifth, drawing a bases loaded walk to plate what would be the winning run for his team, while senior Tyler Whitfield went 3-for-4, with an RBI triple and scored three times in the victory. On the mound, sophomore Roman Corinti picked up the win in relief, and Ruben Ledo struck out five in two, shutout innings to earn a save.

King senior Dontavious Johnson (4ip, 9 K, 2 BB) and Bennett Weinard (3ip, 1 unearned run, five K’s) combined for a no-hit effort on the mound for the Lions. Senior hitters Christian Cabina went 3-for-3, with two runs scored and an RBI, and David Twiddy singled and scored two runs in the win, while Douglas Alvarino started off a five-run Lions seventh with a double and scored a run.

Leyton Parmer threw five innings of shutout baseball, striking out nine and allowing one hit to lead from the mound in Cambridge Christian’s six-inning win at Sarasota Christian. Offensively the Lancers were led by Julian Montes (2-for-3), Josh Morin (2 RBI, 3 stolen bases), with Zack McQuiston and Nathaniel Lusk each doubling in the win.

Five Terrapins pitchers combined for 12 strikeouts as Tampa Prep opened the season with a home win over Indian Rocks Christian, with senior junior Alex Lacey picking up the win in relief with three K’s in two, no-hit innings. Senior Ben Mensch went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and RBI single in the win, and senior Jose Pena, who started on the mound and struck out 4-of-6 batters faced, went 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Riverview senior Nate Hook spun a complex-game victory striking out eight, and Christian Tavares hit a two-run home run to push the game out of reach in favor of the Sharks. Senior Gavin Hunter also had an RBI double in the win. For East Bay, senior Jeremy Galen went 3-for-3 with a homer and a double.
