Berkeley Prep bested Clearwater Central Catholic 9-0, in the two team’s rubber-match on the season, with the Class 4A-District 4 semifinal win earning the Buccaneers a region tournament berth and a spot in Friday’s district championship final against Calvary Christian, winners 10-0 against Tampa Catholic.

Junior pitcher Ian Brown tossed a complete-game for Berkeley Prep (19-7), striking out eight, while allowing just two hits. Brown improves to 7-2 on the year, lowering his era to 1.57.

Offensively, Berkeley Prep started the game with four-straight hits, with Tucker Fine (2-for-5 with an RBI double) scoring the deciding run on a wild pitch, before senior Jakob Hines drove in a pair with a double. Cade Kurland was 2-for-4, scoring three times and Johnathan Bruno went 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI.

Calvary Christian dispatched Tampa Catholic in five innings as senior Nolan Hudi had nine strikeouts, and allowed one hit, a Kian Knutson single.
