Wharton 11, Spoto 1 (five innings)

Ricky Nieves keys a mercy-rule win for Wharton going 3-for-4 with a double and four RBI, while Clayton Coringrato goes 3-for-3 with three runs scored, a double and two RBI, and Leo Alfonzo collects a pair of hits including a double and scores three. Senior Steven Hill earns the win on the mound for the Wildcats tossing two hitless innings and striking out three.


Brooks DeBartolo 10, Bell
Creek Academy 2
Jackson Alvord went 3-for-4 with a double, a triple and two
RBI in the win for Brooks DeBartolo. DeAndre Mahoney had two hits and drove in
a pair, while freshman Reese Corscadden earned the win on the mound working
three innings for the Phoenix.
Plant 8, Strawberry
Crest 0

All nine players in the starting lineup reached base, as a well-balanced Plant offense – combined with six shutout innings from junior Brock Fagler – guided the Panthers to a 8-0 victory over Strawberry Crest on Tuesday night. Plant opened the scoring in the 2nd with a Zach Koch RBI single and then doubled the lead on a sweet RBI bunt single by AJ Hubbard in the 3rd. Koch and Hubbard each had two hits. Mike Haydak made it 3-0 with an RBI double in the 4th and also added an RBI single in the 5th. The next inning, Connor Scott (2-for-3, with a double) lined a shot for a home run over the fence in right to make it 5-0 and the rout was on. Mike Paleaz was 2-for-3 with two runs scored. The Chargers had the leadoff man on in the first four innings, but Fagler was able to wiggle out of it every time as he induced two double plays and struck out six. Derek Barone had two hits for Strawberry Crest and leadoff man Tanner Kelley reached base in all three appearances (HBP, walk, double).

Tampa Prep 7, Academy
at the Lakes 1

Sophomore Gilbert Marquis tossed a complete-game and earned
the win for Tampa Prep at home on Tuesday. Ryan Savitt had three hits and
Charlie Vari and Landon Schabes each had two hits in the Terrapins’ win.
Sickles 3, Gaither 1
(rain/five innings)
Sickles pitcher Dylan Eskew earned the win for the Gryphons
holding Gaither to just a first-inning run allowing just two hits and striking
out six. Jose Cadenas had a double for the Cowboys in the loss. 
Cambridge Christian
10, Bradenton Southeast 0 (five innings)
Austin Carter tossed five-complete striking out 10 to earn
the win on the mound for Cambridge Christian (17-4). The Lancers put together
13 hits, including doubles by Zack Stein, Tilden Agee and Caleb Faris.
Brandon 11, East Bay
0 (five innings)
Brandon junior pitcher BJ Carter struck out nine, while
allowing just three hits in a shutout win against East Bay. Carter also helped
out his cause at the plate driving in three runs, while Gage Young went 3-for-3
with a double and four RBI, and Jermain White tallied three hits including a
double and a run scored.
 
Berkeley Prep 4, Shorecrest
Prep 0
Berkeley Prep (11-9) junior lefty Julian Bosnic tossed four
innings, allowing just one hit and striking out eight to lead the Buccaneers to
a win against Shorecrest Prep. Juniors Sam Bennett and Khalib Bayona each aided
in relief taking care of the final three innings and not allowing a hit between
them.
Hillsborough 2, Freedom
1 (rain/five innings)
Rain took a big sixth inning off the board for the Terriers,
but Hillsborough still walked away with a win against Freedom. Patrick Puentes
tossed the five counted inning, allowing one run on three hits, and had six
strikeouts. For Freedom, pitcher Mitchell Leroy threw 4.2 innings and struck out six in the loss.
Plant City 5, Leto 4
(nine innings)
Plant City captain and UCF signee Dalton Wingo launched a
walk-off home run to left to lead the Raiders over Leto in extra innings.
Austin Eldridge had a pair of doubles and three RBI in the win. Leto’s Andreas
Morales had two hits, including a double with an RBI and a run scored, and Javy
Hernandez had two RBI for the Falcons.

Riverview 9, Robinson
3

Riverview (16-6) had 12 hits and topped Robinson at home on
Tuesday. Senior Justin Farmer hit a three-run homer, the fifth of the season
for the Florida commit. Tyler Roschfska and Garrett Thompson both went 2-for-3,
and Javier Rosario had a pair of hits in the Sharks win. Senior righty Manny
Martinez improved to 4-2 on the year on the mound for Riverview. Robinson got
doubles from Joey Scionti, Aaron Scott, Luis Estevez.
King 3, Alonso 0
King (14-8) senior lefty Brian Lee tossed a complete-game
allowing just four hits and striking out five to shutout Alonso on Tuesday.
Jamarcus Lyons added some pop at the plate with his second home run of the
season, a solo shot to left in the fifth. Danny Terp followed that with a
double and scored later in the frame on a Dehreon Pressley ground out. King
added an insurance run late on a wild pitch. Addison Barger had a pair of hits
for King in the win. Nick Gonzalez had two singles in the loss for Alonso
(15-6). Junior Franco Aleman took the loss on the mound working five innings, striking out eight and allowing two runs (one earned).
Lennard 17, Middleton
1 (four innings)
Lennard (10-10) senior Giovanni Torres earned the win on the
mound for the Longhorns in a mercy-rule win. Daniel Izquierdo, Xavier Montanez
and Keith Harden each had three hits in the win. 

 

 

Durant 10, Armwood 0
(six innings)

Senior Jonah Scolaro struck out 14 in five innings of work
for Durant, allowing just two hits. The Florida State commit also added a
double, a triple and three RBI at the plate to his efforts on the mound. Steven
Witchoskey homered and drove in a pair in a three hit night, Matthew Byars also
added three hits, a double and two RBI. The Cougars also got doubles from Coleton
Brogden (two), Braden Runey, Arpod Zsold and Alex Molinelli.

Newsome 6, Bloomingdale 4

Newsome shot out ahead and held off a late Bloomingdale rally to earn a 6-4 win on the road on Tuesday. Jada Smallwood started the Wolves offense with a two-run double in the first. Maggie Trgo had a pair of RBI hits in the win as well. 


Brooks DeBartolo 20, Lakeside Christian 1 (six innings)
Sarah Thinger’s two hit, four RBI game led the way for the Phoenix as Brooks DeBartolo scores 16 runs in the sixth inning for the mercy-rule win. Destiny Benjamin had three hits and scored four runs in the win, while Victoria Lancet earned the win with nine strikeouts.

Carrollwood Day 10,
Tampa Prep 0 (five innings)

Emma Frost, Kylie Coffin and Sydney Pelaez each doubled for the Patriots, and Coffin earned the win with eight strikeouts. 



Plant City 8, Leto 0
Sophomore ace Ashley Blessin struck out 11 in five innings of work, allowing just one hit to lead the Raiders to victory. Edmilly Molina doubled and had two RBI, while Emily Longoria and Abbie DeWeese also doubled. 


Alonso 16, King 1 (four innings)
Madison Coutts and Stphanie Brennan each drove in three runs for Alonso, Anna Cano had a triple and Kathryn Benninghoff had a double.


Plant 3, Strawberry Crest 1
Mackenzie Herman doubled and had two RBI and Megan Trice doubled in a run for the Panthers in the win.

Durant 8, Armwood 1
Mia Giovenco, Amanda Lasky, Jordan Noble and Traile Robbins had extra-base hits for the Cougars in the win.
