Newsome 3, Alonso 1
Wolves senior Maggie Trgo started the Wolves offense off
with a two-run hit in the second and Jada Smallwood (two doubles) added some
late insurance driving in Trgo in the seventh as Newsome advanced to Thursday’s
district final at Palm Harbor (winners 12-2 over Sarasota Riverview on Tuesday)
at 4 p.m.
Class 8A-District
4 at Wharton
Strawberry Crest 2,
Freedom 1
Strawberry Crest fell behind a run in the first as Freedom’s
Ellis Erickson drove in one on a bunt single, but a Taylor Finney RBI sac fly
and a RBI single from Brianna Moffit (2-for-3) supported a complete-game effort
by Kacey Fultz on the mound, allowing just five hits in the game. Celia Higgins
had a double and a run scored for the Chargers.
Wharton 11, Wiregrass
Ranch 1
Class 8A-District
5 at Sickles
Sickles 8, Plant 0
A 4-for-4 night from sophomore Kamryn Jackson including a
double, a triple, two runs scored and two RBI, and a one-hit shutout from
Natalie Zweig (eight strikeouts) keyed the Gryphons win against Plant and
earned Sickles a berth in the region tournament and a district championship
game against top seed Steinbrenner on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
Class 8A-District

Durant 2, Riverview 0
Durant pitcher Sloan Hammons struck out 11 and allowed just
one hit on the mound, and at the plate added two RBI as the Cougars defeated
Class 7A-District
Chamberlain 10, Hillsborough


Class 4A-District
Tampa Catholic 16,
Calvary Christian 7
Senior Madison Epperson (two doubles) and sophomore Alexa
Russo (triple) each drove in four runs for Tampa Catholic in the win, while
Gabby Burleigh and Olivia Mendez each scored three times. 
Class 3A-District
Carrollwood Day 10,
All Saints Academy 3
Zoe Elverillo was 3-for-4 with a triple and three RBI, Haley
Woodaz went 2-for-4 with four RBI, and Kylie Coffin had three hits and scored
three times as the Patriots defeated All Saints in Plant City.


Lakeland Christian 9,
Seffner Christian 3
