District Softball Scoreboard 4/26/17

Class 8A-District

Sickles 7,
Steinbrenner 2
Sickles scored twice and Steinbrenner answered twice, before
the Gryphons broke things open with a pair of runs in the fifth and added some
insurance late to claim the district crown against Steinbrenner. Lauren
Lightbody led off the game with a triple and scored in the first inning for
Sickles, Stephanie Perez had an RBI double in the fourth, and Kamryn Jackson
had a pair of RBI triples in the win. Natalie Zweig capped the win with a solo
home run to left field in the seventh. Maddie Tomas worked four innings on the
mound to earn the win, and Zweig finished the final three to pick up the save.

Class 8A-District
Plant City pitcher

Plant City 5, Durant

Lauren Estrada doubled in the games first run for Durant in
the second inning, and the Cougars added another in the inning as Kelly Swank (2-for-3)
singled in Estrada. However, that would be all Durant would manage off of Plant
City pitcher Ashley Blessin, who allowed just four hits and struck out nine. The
Raiders got things going in the home half of the second as Emily Longoria
doubled and later scored on an RBI ground out by Erica Sanders. In the next
inning, Edmilly Molina singled in a run, Beka Schulte singled in a pair to give
the Raiders the lead. Lexi Moore added an insurance run with an RBI single in
the fourth, and Abbie DeWeese was 2-for-3 with a run scored in the win.
