Softball Region Quarterfinal Scoreboard 5/3/17
Class 9A
Vero Beach 4, Newsome 3 (8 innings)
A Kenzie Trgo hit and a RBI single and run-scoring sac fly from Lindsey Harper put the Wolves in good position, but Newsome couldn’t hold off Vero Beach late and fell in the eighth inning of the region quarterfinals on the road Wednesday. Seniors Maggie Trgo and Maddie Lynn each had two hits in their final games for Newsome,  both were part of the Wolves 2015 state championship win.
Class 8A
Strawberry Crest 9, Lake Minneola 5
The Chargers lifted by a seven-run second inning held on for
a region quarterfinal win on the road. The inning was keyed by a two-run single
up the middle by Celia Higgins (scored twice) and a RBI bunt single by Taylor
Finney. Rachel Peak and Brianna Moffitt each doubled in the win, while Kacey
Fultz got the win on the mound.

 

Wharton 5, East Ridge

WP: Hana Schwindler – 7ip, 0 earned runs, 1 strikeout
Doubles: Emma Poole, Hana Schwindler
East Bay 5, Sickles 3
Haley Murphy had an RBI double at the plate in the third
inning and worked a complete-game on the mound to get the win for East Bay.
Cassi Goodson hit a line drive, RBI single to center to plate the eventual
decider in the fourth.  Sickles mounted a
strong inning in the fifth as Kamryn Jackson tripled in a pair, followed by an
RBI single by Morgan Noah, but couldn’t get any more falling at home.
