Sophomore Alex Trepper earned a win in his first pitching appearance of the season striking out seven and allowing just three hits in four innings of work. The Gryphons got RBI hits from Connor McTeer (double), Chris Chambers (triple), Josh Luther, Tyler Green, Trey Bacon and Dylan Eskew in a big eight-run second.

For Newsome: Tyler McKenna was 3-for-4, with a run scored; Auston Spires doubled and drove in two; and Josh Costlow doubled and scored twice. For Wharton: Brian Baughman went 4-for-4 with a run and RBI; Leo Alfonzo doubled and drove in three runs.

A two-run Ty Correa double keyed a decisive four-run, fifth inning for Riverview as the Sharks defeated Hillsborough on Saturday. Correa finished with three RBI, while Adam Hunt was 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored. Nathan Gustafson doubled and drove in a pair for the Terriers in the loss.
