Miami Westminster Christian 2, Berkeley Prep 1

Berkeley Prep’s comeback attempt came up just short as it scored one in the seventh inning off a Cade Kurland singled in Ryan Leavy, but the Buccaneers would leave the bases loaded without getting the tying run across halting a five-game win streak. Westminster Christian got all it needed in the first inning on a two-run home run by Logan O’Neil.

Wharton 10, Wiregrass Ranch 0 (six innings)

Wharton junior Brian Baughman tossed five innings, striking out nine as the Wildcats picked up a mercy-rule win over Class 8A-District 6 opponent Wiregrass Ranch. Senior Duncan Pastore had a two-run double in the Wildcats eight-run, second inning and aded another RBI double in the sixth inning to end the game early, while senior Ricky Viloria drove in a pair of runs in the win.

Gaither 12, Chamberlain 2 (five innings)

Gaither put together a six-run second inning to defeat district opponent Chamberlain, keyed by a bases clearing triple by Danny Gutcher. Senior pitcher Anthony Alvarez struck out five, allowing two runs to earn the win for the Cowboys, while Alberto Delgado’s two-run single ended the game by mercy-rule in the bottom of the fifth. An RBI single from Greg Santana and an RBI double by Kevin Casazza provided two runs for the Chiefs in the fifth inning.

Jesuit had 11 different players pick up a hit in the mercy-rule win, while Tigers pitcher’s Alex Bryant, Nick Vastano and Connor Price combined in a one-hit performance on the mound, and Jonathan Shoop was 3-for-3 with four runs scored and two RBI.
