Winter Haven 2, Gaither 0
Javier Deyan was superb on the mound for the Cowboys allowing just two unearned runs, but the offensive support didn’t come as Winter Haven starting pitcher Benjamin Adams and two other pitchers held Gaither to just three hits. The Blue Devils scratched out a pair of runs in the fifth – an inning that started with an error, and Winter Haven held on from there.

Jesuit 5, River Ridge 0
Will Swantek ’18 closes out the shutout, Jesuit wins 5-0! The Tigers will host the Region Semifinal next Tuesday against Jefferson, which defeated Land O’Lakes tonight.#RegionQuarterfinal#JesuitBaseball pic.twitter.com/eWzK994chS— Jesuit Tampa (@JesuitTampaFL) May 9, 2018
Senior pitchers Jack Anderson and Will Swantek combined to hold River Ridge off the scoreboard as the Tigers cruised to a 5-0 region quarterfinal win. Anderson got the start and the win, while allowing just five hits and striking out a dozen, before turning things over to Swantek in the sixth. The win on the mound capped a highly successful run against River Ridge for the FSU signee who has faced the Royal Knights in region play the past three seasons, while tossing 17 1/3 scoreless innings (per Jesuit High records). Swantek struck out three and allowed just one hit en route to his fifth save of the season. The Tigers got what it needed on offense from an RBI Joel Brewer single in the third, but Javi Baldor would add some insurance the next inning scoring on an error, and even more as he had a two-run double in the fifth. Bennett Lee also had an RBI single in the win. Jesuit will have to tangle with Jefferson for the fourth time this season in next week’s region semifinal at home.
