Plant City 6, Newsome 1 – Eight innings
A Hunter Emerine RBI double broke the stalemate in the eighth inning, and Raiders piled on late scoring five runs to come away with a win on the road Monday. Senior Grant Gifford worked three innings of relief to earn the win on the mound. Jarod Wingo made the start pitching four scoreless innings and striking out four. Chris Rodriguez was 4-for-5 at the plate adding and RBI single to the eighth inning pile-on that also saw RBI hits from Parker Messick and Cole Cothren. Newsome’s lone run came via an RBI Sawyer Smith single that scored Tyler McKenna, who led off the sixth inning with a double.

Seffner Christian tried to mount a two-out rally in the seventh getting two runners aboard, but couldn’t scratch out a run as the Crusaders fell, 2-0 to IMG Academy Silver. Sophomore Ben Cheek pitched three innings of relief, allowing no runs on one hit, two walks and struck out six.

Citrus Park Christian 12, Academy at the Lakes 9
Nick Cucchi drove in a run on a single and James Strom had a two-run double as the Eagles scored six in the sixth inning to come from behind and defeat Academy at the Lakes. Calvin Ziglar was 3-for-4 with a pair of runs scored and Isreal Oliva went 2-for-4 with three runs scored and an RBI for Citrus Park.
