Austin Grause struck out 10 in 6 2/3 innings of work on Friday as the Cowboys picked up a second district win this week. Jacob Choe was 2-for-3 with a double and three RBI, Frank Perez doubled and scored twice, and Derek Crum and K’Wality Williams each drove in a pair in the win.

Bloomingdale junior Brock Wilken took a four-game break from his torrid home run pace, but he got back in rhythm belting his county-leading seventh long ball of the season in the first inning against Plant City. Senior Kyle Merkle apparently wanted in on the action as well with a three-run blast in the  third as the Bulls took out the Raiders on the road. Senior Myles Caba earned the win on the mound tossing six innings allowing two runs and striking out six. Plant City scored a pair of runs on a Parker Messick groundout and a Cole Cothren single. Messick tossed six innings and was tagged with his first loss of the season, but did record seven strikeouts.

Christian Tate doubled and drove in three in support of a strong effort on the mound from Trevor Finan, who struck out seven in five innings of work as the Hawks defended the nest for the second time in as many nights. For the Titans, Joe Lewis was 2-for-4 with a double, scoring a pair of runs in the game.

Blake Hooker got things going in the home first with an RBI single for the Patriots and the senior kept it going all night, finishing 3-for-4, with two RBI and three runs scored as Carrollwood Day defeated Ottawa Hills. The Patriots got offensive lifts from Kyle Benedict (three RBI), Chavez Summerville (two RBI) and Damien Rameau (2-for-3, two runs, two RBI).
