Southwest Florida Christian 3, Seffner Christian 2

Seffner Christian scraped out a pair of runs, but couldn’t overcome a three-run first inning against Ft Myers Southwest Florida Christian. A three-run Jovan Gill home run did the damage off Bobby Wellen, who took the loss working three innings. Brandon Grant was 2-for-3, with a double and drove in both Seffner Christian runs.

Tampa Prep 8,
Tampa Catholic 1

Tampa Prep jumped out to a four-run lead in the second on district opponent Tampa Catholic, on a two-run double by Owen Fulton, an RBI single by Jack Doney and a run-scoring double by Gilbert Marquis and never looked back. Junior Colby Welch worked five innings on the mound allowing just one run when Tony Watson, who led off the fourth with a double scored on an Anthony Lefler roundball. Welch struck out one and gave up five hits, before Jack Doney (who went 2-for-3, with one RBI and two runs) finished the final two innings on the mound striking out a pair.

Armwood 5, Steinbrenner 3

Trevor Finan, Chris Tavarez and Christian Tavarez each drove in a run for Armwood in the second inning, but it was a two-run home run off the bat of Tyler Castelli in the fifth that pushed the Hawks out far enough ahead for Armwood to claim its third win on the week. Tyler Lawrence went five innings on the mound, striking out a pair to earn his fourth win of the year. Steinbrenner took advantage of a Armwood error and hit batter, setting up Donavan Garcia’s bases clearing double in the fifth, but that was all the offense the Warriors could get going, as Caleb Christianson shut the door for the Hawks, working the final two innings allowing just one hit.

Calvary Christian 9, Berkeley Prep 6

A couple of crooked run innings proved enough for Calvary Christian to get by Berkeley Prep in a district game on Friday. The first of Tommy White’s three hits in the game drove in the first run, and the sophomore would add a double and two RBI to the win. Nolan Hudi struck out 11 in 6 innings on the mound earning his sixth win of the season. Berkeley Prep scored three in the second on RBI single from Alex Haire (two RBI) and Tucker Fine, and tried to claw back late with a two run double from Roman Samson in the seventh, but the rally fell short.
