Plant got the better of Steinbrenner in district play as a wild pitch and a two-run error gave the Panthers the edge. Brayden Heidel struck out 11 in five innings and Camden Boyer struck out four in the loss, despite the Warriors duo not allowing a hit. An RBI double by Evan Cuervo and a run-scoring single from Ryan Lowder accounted for Steinbrenner’s runs.

Tampa Prep senior Colby Welch tossed five shutout innings as the Terrapins claimed a win in a rain-shortened game. Welch allowed two hits and struck out nine. Robert Birk’s RBI sac fly proved the difference driving in Jaden Holder.

BERKELEY PREP 11, LAKELAND SANTA FE 0 – Six innings

Berkeley Prep senior Ian Brown struck out six, allowing just a single hit and Jake Little finished the final two frames of the win. The Buccaneers offense got all it would need in the first as Andrew DiMisa drove in the deciding run. The Bucs got a solo home run from Roman Samson, while Connor Leach doubled and drove in a pair, and Davis Childers drove in two runs.

Plant City’s senior Cole Cothren doubled in the home-eighth and Tyler Dowdy walked off the win with an RBI single as the Raiders defeated Strawberry Crest in a rematch of last season’s Class 8A state championship game. Raiders senior Jarod Wingo pitched seven innings, striking out 14 in a no-decision, while Ryan Robinson worked a scoreless eighth to pick up the win, with a two-strikeout frame and he also had an RBI in the game. The Chargers got a two-hit game from Colby Fanning (RBI) and Bryan Boully struck out five in five innings.

Bloomingdale put up a big eight run inning in the second inning behind an RBI double from Drake Harman (two runs), and RBI hits from Dominic Gonnella, Antonio De Jesus and Wyatt Strickland. Senior Brock Wilken ended the game early with a two-run home run, his second of the season in the fifth inning. Robinson’s Adam Haidermota doubled in the Knights only run of the game. Bulls sophomore Jack Owens struck out nine in 4 2/3 innings of work.
