Three Plant City pitchers held Riverview to just two hits and combined for 15 strikeouts. Chase Mobley struck out 11 in five, no-hit innings followed by Tanner Rollyson who struck out a pair, and capped by Preston Rogers, who earned the save. Colin Schultz had two hits and drove in a pair and Anthony Palestrini had an RBI sac fly and run-scoring single in the win.

Plant 2 – five innings

Plant jumped out early on an RBI single from Bryce Pelleriti and a sac bunt by Thomas Bolton, but Sickles quickly answered and piled on to end things early to remain undefeated. Jordan Yost crossed the plate on a double steal in the home-first to give the Gryphons the advantage. From there, Thomas Bly continued on the mound working three scoreless innings and striking out five. Luke Fikar stretched the lead with an RBI double, and Caden McDonald’s two-run double kicks off an eight-run inning to end things in five, when Connor Vance lined a game-ending single to right.

Jack Martinez doubled in a run, followed by RBI hits from Jake Kulikowski (who later added an RBI sac fly) and Clay Thompson put Jesuit ahead as the Tigers took Game 1 on the road in a home-and-away series with Venice this week. Venice took a first-inning lead when John Whitney tripled and scored on an error. Ryan Denison struck out four in five innings of work to earn his second win, and Brooks Chamberlin recorded his second save – pitching two innings and had three strikeouts.
