Each week our staff pick and one “fan pick” will be selected and awarded an 813Preps T-shirts (as well as sweet bragging rights). Coaches (and only coaches) can send their nominees to us at jarrettguthrie@813preps.com by no later than Monday morning. Staff Pick PotW – each week our 813Preps staff will select our “staff pick” of the five standout performers from the previous week:

Cade Kurland, Berkeley Prep

In three wins last week, the Bucs junior homered twice – including a walk-off game winner against Bartram Trail. He drove in three and scored four, adding a stolen base while going 6-for-10 on the week.

Caden McDonald, Sickles

Earning Saladino MVP honors the Gryphons junior was 8-for-12, with nine RBI, three homers, a double, scored six times and tossed 6 1/3 scoreless innings in a shutout against Jesuit.

Jack Mueller, Lennard

The Longhorns junior struck out 10, allowing just two hits and three walks in a shutout win over Armwood in the Saladino Silver Division pool play. Mueller is now 3-0 on the season, with a 0.00 ERA through 21ip.

Conley Strayer, Plant

The Panthers senior hit .412 in Saladino play, including a 4-for-5, three RBI, two run performance as Plant defeated Wharton. In total he drove in four and scored six times for the Saladino Tournament champions.

Grant Varner, Tampa Prep

The Terrapins senior made a relief appearance in three, team win’s last week, picking up two wins (against Flagler Palm Coast and Mount Dora Christian) and striking out seven in a combined 4 1/3 innings pitched.
