Lucas Phelps broke an early tie with a three-run homer in the second inning as Newsome coasted to a mercy-rule win in six innings. Evan Wainman homered in the first, plating a pair with a long ball to center. Caeden Diaz doubled and was 3-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored. Evan Dempsey struck out nine, working six innings and improving to 4-1 on the mound this season. For Hillsborough Cam Mallow doubled and scored a run, Tanner Jones doubled in a run, and Dylan Patino pitched up his first hit of his varsity career.

Julian Montes won a complete-game battle with Wildcats pitcher Cole Syverson, as both struck out eight in the game. Cambridge Christian’s Zack McQuistondoubled and drove in a run in the win. AATL’s Vincent Verpault was 1-for-3 with a run and RBI, while Syversen was 2-for-3 at the plate.

Eight different Bell Creek hitters drove in runs in a four-inning mercy-rule win at Admiral Farragut, with Matthew Kelley’s first-inning RBI sac fly doing all the damage needed to be done for the Panthers. Cade Grinder struck out six in three innings of relief, and Caden Ross went 2-for-2 with a triple, two RBI and scored twice.

Anthony Castillo was 3-for-4 with a run scored, Drew Canody had a pair of hits including a home run and three RBI, and Andrew Jergins pitched 5 2/3 innings, striking out five and allowing one unearned run. Rivers Kurland’s RBI sac fly ended the game via mercy-rule in the sixth.

Caden McDonald’s three-run home run to center in the first set the tone as the Gryphons cruised to a mercy-rule win at district foe Leto on Tuesday. McDonald’s two-hit night also included a double, six RBI and he scored three times and is now tied for ninth in the nation with 33 RBI. Connor Vance (three runs, two RBI) and Cameron Guise (run, RBI) each had three hits, while sophomore Thomas Bly earned his fourth win with three innings of work on the mound.

Plant City managed just two hits in the game, with Chase Mobley driving in a third-inning run, and he struck out six in five innings on the mound for the Raiders.

For Wharton, senior Elijah Dukes hit his fourth homer, driving in a pair, while Quentin Meadows and Henry Griffith also had two hits each, and Jake Turer doubled and drove in a pair in the loss.

KJ Leshko had a single and scored twice for the Hawks. For TBT, Ethan Jones also pitched the whole way for his team, striking out six and allowing three runs (two earned) on three hits.
