813Preps Player of the Week – Week 9
sponsored by Play-It-Again Sports – Brandon

Our weekly Player of the Week list returns – this year sponsored by our friends at Play-It-Again Sports – Brandon. Each week our staff pick and one “fan pick” will be selected and earn area bragging rights. Coaches (and only coaches) can send their nominees to us at jarrettguthrie@813preps.com by no later than Monday morning. Stats for consideration are for games held Mon-Sat the previous week.

Staff Pick PotW – each week our 813Preps staff will select our “staff pick” of the five standout performers from the previous week:

Tyler Fritsch, Bell Creek

The Panthers junior righthander struck out five in a six-inning perfect game last Thursday against Cambridge Christian, while he also went 5-for-9 at the plate, with a double, triple, run and RBI in three games last week.

Donald Gorgei, Hillsborough

The Terriers senior had two RBI in two of three Hillsborough wins last week (against Chamberlain and Armwood), and tossed five shutout innings, allowing just two hits and striking out 11 against the Hawks.

Roger Haughey, Tampa Prep

The senior middle infielder was 8-for-10 in three Tampa Prep wins last week with a pair of doubles, eight RBI and scored six runs – upping his average to .382 on the year.

Tanner Rollyson, Plant City

After earning a win in relief on Monday at Lennard, the Raiders junior stepped to the mound late against Durant and delivered five scoreless to pick up his second win of the week. Rollyson has a clean 0.00 ERA across nine appearances (24 innings) this season.

Colby Shelton, Bloomingdale

The Bulls senior is catching fire at the plate at the right time leading into the postseason. In a 1-1 week for Bloomingdale, the Alabama signee was 5-for-7 with a homer in each game, four RBI and four runs scored.
