Seffner Christian claimed the 2A-10 title with senior Joe Tomasello tossing a complete-game, three-hit shutout with 10 strikeouts, with Corbin Newman leading the way on offense, finishing a homer shy of a  cycle, and driving in the deciding run in the first inning. CJ Koenck led off the first with a single, scoring on Newman’s it and Colin McNeal singled in Newman in the fourth. Caden Kull’s double highlighted Foundation Christian’s offensive night, which also saw singles from seniors William Newbold and Garrett Porter.

Class 3A-District 5 Final 

Tampa Prep 3
Tampa Catholic 1

Tampa Catholic junior Brian Canasi sent the first pitch he saw in the first inning over the wall in left field, but Tampa Prep would in the third when sophomore Noah Sheffield left the yard with a three-run shot to center giving the top-seeded Terrapins all they would need to claim the Class 3A-District 5 title. Tampa Prep senior Will Sotiropoulos, who earned a Week 2 win over the Crusaders, delivered 5 1/3 innings on the mound, allowing five hits and striking out four to earn his seventh win; he was also 2-for-3 at the plate. Roger Haughey finished things off with a pair of strikeouts in his 1 2/3 innings of scoreless baseball for his third save. Hershey Sanchez had a pair of hits for the Crusaders, and Michael Richards tossed three innings of scoreless baseball.

Class 3A-District 6 Final 

Calvary Chr 5
Berkeley Prep 1

Calvary Christian junior Hunter Dietz limited Berkeley Prep to a single run, while striking out 11 to lead the Warriors to the 3A-6 district title. Casey Lockwood’s sacrifice bunt scored the first run and a Buccaneer error in the third added two more runs and pushed the game in favor of the host Warriors. Nick Monile was 2-for-4 with a run scored, and Sean Shelly hit a solo shot in the sixth. Wyatt Ewanowski doubled to right to lead off the sixth for Berkeley Prep to breakup the no-hitter, and scored on a double from Cade Kurland for the Bucs lone run.

Class 5A-District 7 Final 

Sumner 6
Braden River 4 – eight innings

In just its second season, Sumner has claimed its first baseball district title as the Stingrays scored two in extra innings to defeat top seed Braden Rive for the 5A-7 crown. Gabriel Mangual was 2-for-5 scoring the deciding run in the eighth on a balk, while Manny Ramos (1-for-5, RBI) scored his second run to add some insurance on a passed ball. Freshman Isaiah Welch tossed two scoreless innings of relief to earn his second win of the tournament after blanking Bradenton Southeast on Monday for five innings. Sophomore Cole Montgomery finished with three hits, including a double, with a run scored and RBI.

Class 6A-District 5 Final 

Wharton 15
Land O’Lakes 9

Wharton exploded with 13 runs in the first three innings, then weathered a mid-game rally from Land O’Lakes to claim it’s second-straight district title at Wiregrass Ranch High. Senior Elijah Dukes RBI single got things rolling for the Wildcats in the first, and Carson Mohler picked up two of his four RBI to complete the four-run output. Wharton made five hits and three hit batters in the second hurt with a seven run inning, and Jake Turer continued his breakout sophomore campaign, upping his team-leading RBI total to 24 with a two-run homer, and two more RBI in the win. Billy Eich was 3-for-4, also homered and earned a win on the mound.

Class 6A-District 6 Final 

Sickles 8
Gaither 3

Sickles junior Connor Vance bookended a five-run late-game output as the Gryphons claimed the 6A-6 title over Gaither. Vance who finished with three RBI and two singles, also scored a run in the win. Caden McDonald pitched five innings, earning his seventh win on the year with eight strikeouts and three earned runs allowed, and Luke Fikar had an RBI double. Senior Keaton Ference put Gaither up early with a solo homer to left, and Gaither responded to two Sickles runs an inning later wit a two-run third behind an RBI single by Jacob Choe, and a RBI groundout from Israel Oliva.
