Tampa Prep 9, Port Orange Atlantic 2

Playing in the FCSL Spring Break Invitational, Tampa Prep answered a second inning Atlantic run, with a pair on two errors. But the Terrapins continued to build on the lead, putting up the winning run in the fourth as Jaden Holder scored on a passed ball – one of his three runs in the win. Jack Angelone was 2-for-3 at the plate and pitched two scoreless innings for Tampa Prep, sealing the win for sophomore Larry Smith, who worked five frames and struck out three.

In the Space Coast High School Classic, Carrollwood Day scored throughout and held off a late charge from Baldwin. Steven Vargo was 2-for-4 for the Patriots, scoring four times, while Brennan Leonhardt, Logan Mazur, and Ethan Heintz each had two hits in the win.

After each scoring a run in the third inning, Tampa Catholic and Lennard battled for six more scoreless innings before the Crusaders put together some two-out hitting to take a win. Sophomore Lucas Cinnante sent a pinch-hit liner into right for a double, and scored when Maddox King lined a single into left. Both starting pitchers shoved with Lennard’s Carter Payne holding TC to a single run across seven innings, yielding three hits and striking out eight, while Crusaders starter Alex Sotiropoulos went six innings, striking out six and giving up one run on four hits. Senior Bransen Angel finished the game off for the Crusaders with four innings and two strikeouts to just a single hit.

Dominic Sardegna singled in two runs in the third to give Steinbrenner a lead, and the Warriors were able to hold off Newsome for a win. Senior Ben Geraghty pitched 4 2/3 innings, allowing two earned runs to pick up the win, and Bryce Andrews pitched a scoreless seventh to earn the save. Jorge Romero was 2-for-3 with two runs scored for the Warriors. Wolves leadoff Evan Dempsey was 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI, and struck out eight in a loss on the mound. Braden Moon was 2-for-4, and Dakoda Mavarez was 2-for-3 with two runs scored.

Senior Alex Philpott cleared the bases with a triple as Strawberry Crest scored four runs in the second inning, handing Bloomingdale its first loss of the season. Philpott would also close out the game on the mound, striking out five in two hitless innings. Arjun Nimmala was 2-for-4 with an RBI in the win, and Luke Richardson earned the victory with 3 1/3 innings pitched and three strikeouts, while Brayden DiCerb struck out three in his 1 2/3 innings of middle relief. For the Bulls, Pierce Collins doubled in a run, and Johnny De La Rosa Stricklands out one in 2 2/3 innings of scoreless relief.

Plant City got a hit-by-pitch-off win against Gaither as the Raiders led off the seventh with back-to-back singles from Anthony Palestrini and Deven Gonzalez, before Landen Roberts was hit by a pitch to load the bases, and the game ended when Chase Mobley was struck by a pitch. Adan Longoria had six strikeouts in a six-inning no-decision, and Zane Wright earns the win with an inning of relief. Gaither’s Nico Lopez had a double and an RBI and Scout Simpson was 1-for-3 with a run and RBI.

Senior Josh Hines was 3-or-3 with a double and two RBI as the Tigers won by mercy-rule in five innings. Noah Sheffield homered, Grant Jordan doubled and drove in two, and McCall Biemiller struck out eight in three innings of work to earn his second win of the season. Wilson Andersen struck out three, while allowing just one hit in his two scoreless innings of relief, earning the save as the Tigers ended things early with an eight-run home-fifth. For Wharton, David Ascano singled in two runs in the third inning.

Hillsborough’s Nelson Arbolaez (2-for-4, run) tripled in a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth to seal a win for the Terriers. Aiden Morales singled and drove in two runs, and JJ Shipherd pitched a complete game with seven strikeouts earning his second win of the season. For Freedom, Joey Wey was 2-for-3 with two scored and three RBI, Brayden Nanns doubled in a pair, while Bryce Nanns (two runs) and Logan Lambert (run) each had two hits.

Demetrios Passalaris tossed six scoreless innings, allowing just three hits and striking out six for the Falcons to earn his first win. King senior Jacari Sandlin took the tough loss, with four unearned runs and six strikeouts.

Armwood sophomore Chase Conti scored and drove in three runs, while going 3-for-3 with a double and triple as the Hawks defeated Tampa Bay Tech in the breakfast game from Don Powell Field in Brandon. KJ Leshko (3-for-4) also had a triple, driving in two for the Hawks, while Matthew Hall weathered six errors behind him to pitch five innings, allowing seven unearned runs and striking out four. The Titans battled with six total runs in the fourth and fifth innings, but could climb all the way back. Sadarian Austin scored twice and had a two-run triple for TBT, and Luke Jones was 2-for-4 in the loss.

Chamberlain 6, Brandon 4

Chamberlain scored three runs in the first two innings, then responded to a Brandon four-run fifth with three more to claim a tournament win. An Eyxsen Herrera RBI double tied the game in the bottom of the fifth, before a Dalton Peppers RBI sac fly gave the Storm the edge, and Nicholas Bourdon RBI single scored the final run. Michael Wormack earned the win on the mound with four strikeouts, with Peppers (two strikeouts) and Yadiel Garcia (Sv, 2ip, 5 K’s) adding scoreless relief. Brandon’s Carson Junttila doubled in two runs in the top of the fifth, with Reggie Faison and Marlon Garcia (2-for-4, double, 4ip, 5 K’s on the mound) singled in runs in the inning as well.
