Tampa Catholic pitcher Roman Corinti picked up 11 strikeouts, spinning a nasty breaking ball for K’s, as the Crusaders took control early, batting around in the first innings with RBI hits by Danny Lazaro (2-for-3, double, two RBI) and Ethan Frame (2-for-3) getting the mercy-rule win going; Rolando Jimenez was 2-for-2, with a walk and hit-by-pitch, scoring three runs and ending the game early with an RBI single into left.

Pierce Collins skied a triple into right field in the bottom of the seventh, and two pitches later Coop Hinson drove in the walk-off run for the Bulls. Senior Jacob Magadan earned the complete-game win, striking out eight, allowing three runs. Vinny Dinzeo singled in a run, and Hinson had an RBI sac fly in the victory. For the Raiders, Anthony Palestrini was 2-for-3, scoring twice, and Wyatt Fordham had an RBI double. On the mound, senior Adan Longoria worked six innings, allowing three runs (one earned) and struck out nine.

Sickles junior Jacob Dial sent a ground ball single into left, driving in a pair of runs in the first, and Gryphons starting pitcher Caden McDonald took over from there. The senior struck out seven, holding the Warriors scoreless for five innings, before an error allowed two unearned runs. At the plate McDonald (3-for-3) had a leadoff homer in the fifth, and aded an RBI double off the wall in right in the sixth. Hayden Yost was 2-for-4 with a double, run scored and RBI.

Newsome senior Evan Dempsey belted his third homer of the season over the wall in right to start the home-half and three Wolves pitchers held Sumner to just two hits in a home win. Wade Walton struck out six in 4 2/3 innings, before Ryan Spitzer (1 1/3ip, one hit) and Brian Young (one inning, two K’s) closed things out. Spitzer drove in a pair in the win, and Luke Peterson went 1-for-2, with a walk and two runs scored.

Freshman Anthony Alicea was 2-for-4, scoring and driving in a run. East Bay’s Rory Beauford was 2-for-3, driving in a run and scoring three times, Taurean Norman also had two hits, a run and RBI in the loss, and Ty Andrews hit a double, scored one and had an RBI.

Hillsborough’s Kyler Martin (3ip, one hit, five K’s), Aiden Morales (win, 1ip, 3 K’s) and Aaron Ireland (1ip, 3 K’s) combined for a shutout for the Terriers. Martin drove in the deciding run, kicking off a seven-run fourth inning, and Jackson Cande had a two-run triple, and scored twice for the Terriers.

Brandon starter Reginald Faison struck out eight, and worked around four hits to pick up the win with 6 1/3 innings on the mound, before Gavin Hansen closed the door to earn the save. Faison, Carson Junttila (2-for-3), and Daniel Castro loaded the bases with singles in the first inning, setting up Ethan Flores to drive in the game’s only run with a ground ball to third. Vince Peinado had two hits for the Sharks, and took the tough loss despite four innings, and four strikeouts.

Two Crusaders pitchers combined on a one-hit shutout against Brooks DeBartolo on Wednesday, as Bransen Angel struck out nine, allowing a single hit across five innings, before giving way to Charlie Parker who finished of the game, striking out the side in the sixth and working a 1-2-3 seventh inning. Rolando Jimenez went 4-for-4 in the win with a pair of RBI, and Carson Arnold (two runs) and Hershey Sanchez (RBI) each had two hits for Tampa Catholic. Isaac Machado had a single and a stolen base for the Phoenix.

Lakewood senior Ryan Morrow struck out 10, holding Carrollwood Day off the board until the Patriots mounted a comeback in the sixth. CDS’ comeback attempt included an RBI double from Nick Bonollo, and an RBI single from Christian Clarke, but Morrow got out of the jam with a pop out and a caught stealing. Morrow had an RBI single in the fourth, and Jonathan Anderson singled in what would prove to be the deciding run for the Spartans.
