Sickles 4, Dunedin 3 (10)

Sickles and Dunedin battled deep into the night on Wednesday, about as deep as the walk-off bomb to center from Caden McDonald to give the Gryphons the win in extra innings. McDonald’s county-best eighth home run of the year went out to center, and rewarded Cameron Guise for a scoreless inning of relief and earning the junior his fourth win. Sickles took a three-run lead in the third the Guise sacrificed in a run Hayden Yost scored on an error, and Jordan Yost singled a run. Dunedin chipped away at the lead on an RBI double by Greyson McNeil (2-for-5, two doubles) in the fourth, and McNeil drove in another on a ground ball in the sixth, followed by a run-scoring singly by AJ Shelton. McDonald struck out nine in a six-inning no-decision, and Dunedin’s Tyler Beard struck out five in five innings, and Jacob Riegel had six strikeouts in four innings, but took the loss in relief.
