Armwood, Carrollwood Day win Saladino Division titles

⚾ Saladino Silver Championship

Armwood claimed it’s second-straight Saladino Tournament championship (having won the Bronze Division last season), walking off the Silver Division title game against Robinson on a Christian Lallave-Segui (2-for-4) line drive single into right. Three walks loaded the bases for senior Matthew Hall to sacrifice in the tying run just before the game-winner. Javier Suniaga  singled in the home-first, stole second and scored the game’s first run on an error. Robinson put together a two-out rally in the fifth with a Collin Rosenberg walk, followed by a Nathan Porath line drive single, and both of them scoring on a line drive from Rhyder RobinsonOwen Leever pitched 5 2/3 innings for the Hawks with two runs allowed and five strikeouts, before giving way to Zalen Hicks picked up the final four outs – two of them strikeouts to get the win.

⚾ Saladino Bronze Championship

#6 Carrollwood Day 5, East Bay 1

Carrollwood Day junior Nick Riedel held East Bay to one run on two hits, striking out 10 as the Patriots offense came to life in the third inning and claimed the Saladino Bronze Division championship. The Indians took the lead in the top of the third when Bobby Hayes singled to center, moved around on a Andrew Gingrich double, and scored on a wild pitch. A bases-loaded walk taken by Nick Bonollo tied the game, and Logan Mazur (2-for-3, run) singled in the deciding run. Allen Soriano singled in a run, Steven Vargo doubled and scored, and JD Howard was 1-for-2 with two runs scored for the Patriots. Carrollwood Day pushes its undefeated streak to 11 games with the win.
