Adonys Nova-Sepulveda held Foundation Christian scoreless through three innings to start Monday’s 2A-10 quarterfinal and helped himself secure a win for SLAM with a two-run homer in the first inning as the Spartans scored seven early runs. Andrew Bunner went 2-for-4 in the win with a double and three RBI, and JJ Shipherd hit two triples, drove in a run and scored twice. The Spartans will face the Carrollwood Day tomorrow evening in district semifinal action.

Levi Baldwin and Jadin Soto singled in runs as AATL walked off a win against Cambridge Christian in the 2A-10 district quarterfinal. After the Wildcats scored three early runs, Brent Ferris got the Lancers to within a run with a two-run single in the third, and Cambridge Christian took a lead in the sixth when Brody Bellomo doubled in a pair. Academy at the Lakes’ win books the Wildcats in the district semifinal against top-seeded Seffner Christian (17-4) on Tuesday at 4pm from Carrollwood Day.

Brooks DeBartolo 2, Bell Creek 0

Brooks DeBartolo junior Joe DiCecco worked around six Bell Creek singles and one walk to pitch a complete-game shutout and lead the Phoenix in a 3A-5 quarterfinal win. A hit batter and an error to start the fourth gave Brooks DeBartolo some momentum and freshman Eric Garcia singled up the middle to get the Phoenix the lead, before Mekhi Williams‘ sac fly added some insurance. DiCecco struck out two, and his defense put in the work behind him playing mistake-free baseball and turning a double play to end the game. Brooks DeBartolo now has a district semifinal meeting with the top-seeded Crusaders at Tampa Catholic on Tuesday at 7 pm.

King senior Enrique Fernandez (3ip, one walk, 3 K’s) and freshman Michael Pena (1ip) held Middleton hitless as the Lions had 13 hits in a four-inning mercy-rule win. Connor Messenger went 2-for-2 with three runs scored, Alex Quintero was 3-for-3 with a double, three RBI and a run scored, and Anthony Lara was 2-for-3 with a double, two runs and three RBI.

Spoto 3, Bradenton Southeast 2

Spoto got the better of some fifth-inning scoring, answering a pair of runs from Southeast with a three-spot in the home-half as three walks setup Cullen Cairns (2-for-3, double) to drive in a pair with a single, and a passed ball allowing Devin Dukes to score the deciding run. Cairns allowed two runs over his five innings on the mound to pick up the win while striking out six, and Peyton Nisy held the Seminoles to just one hit, and earned the save with two scoreless innings. The Spartans will travel to face No. 1-seed Jesuit (19-6) tomorrow at 7 pm.

David Simpkins doubled in his second run of the game to give the Patriots the lead in the seventh inning, and junior Jacob Antle worked around a leadoff error in the home-half finishing off the Pirates and earning the win on the mound. The Patriots and Pirates traded leads five times in the game, with Bryce Nanns going 3-for-4, with two runs and two RBI, Brayden Nanns going 2-for-3 with a rouble and a run, Simpkins also had an RBI single, and Liam Harris was 3-for-4 with two doubles in the win. Freedom travels to Parrish Community (20-6) on Tuesday for the semifinal game.

Wharton jumped out with a six-run second inning and held off Hillsborough for a district quarterfinal win. After Jake Turer‘s RBI single in the first, the Wildcats turned it up in the second with a two-run double by Justis Meadows followed immediately by a two-run double from Turer, who would later score on a wild pitch. Aaron Wonderley held the Terriers to three, unearned run in his 4 1/3 innings to earn a win with five strikeouts; Zachary Chandler worked two no-hit innings of relief, striking out a pair to earn a save. Aiden Morales drove in a pair of runs for the Terriers in the fifth, Ryan Arroyo also drove in a run with a single. The win books the Wildcats a spot in Tuesday’s semifinal against district top seed Gaither at 7pm.

Gerard Ortega got the Falcons offense going with an RBI triple in the second, and scored on an error and Leto never looked back in a quarterfinal win against TBT. Demitri Passalaris struck out 12 in 5 1/3 innings on the mound, holding the Titans to one run on five hits. Ortega was 2-for-3, scoring twice and adding a double to his night, while Denzel Martinez’s RBI single in the second gave Leto the needed insurance for the win, and Arley Duran singled in a pair in a five-run fourth for the Falcons. Sadarian Austin was 2-for-3 with a run scored for TBT in the loss. Leto travels to Armwood to face the No. 2-seeded Hawks at 7 pm on Tuesday.

Bloomingdale senior Johnny De La Rosa would pickup an RBI the hard way, wearing a pitch and earning the Bulls a walk-off win against visiting East Bay in quarterfinal play. Dawson Rankin‘s two-run homer in the third would give the Bulls a lead, but East Bay chipped away, scoring on a balk and a DJ Terrell (2-for-3) RBI single in the sixth inning. But Rankin wasn’t done contributing as the Bulls senior weathered a two-out walk and single in the seventh, while striking out a pair to earn a win in relief. Connor Crayer allowed two unearned runs in his five innings on the mound for the Bulls, striking out three; while Michael Mowel allowed three runs for East Bay, finishing with four strikeouts as both took no-decisions in their starts. Bloomingdale will face No. 1 seed Manatee on the road on Tuesday.

Lennard scored four times in the first with RJ Torres bringing in the first run on a single, and Talan Miranda‘s two-run double giving the Longhorns the necessary run to hold off Plant City. Senior Mattie Counts was 3-for-4 with two doubles and scored twice for the Longhorns, Zack Bird struck out 10 in his 5 1/3 innings, and Pablo Garcia finished the final five outs with a pair of strikeouts to notch a save. Lane Baxter was 3-for-4, with a run and RBI for the Raiders, Salvador Jaramillo was 2-for-4, and senior Aiden Bean drove in a run in the loss. Lennard will head to Palmetto for Tuesday’s district semifinal at 7 pm.

Strawberry Crest’s Chase Conti drove in the second of three first-inning runs, and then held visiting Ridge Community to one run in his four innings en route to his sixth win on the mound this season. Akhil Nimmala‘s two run homer ended the game early via mercy-rule. Strawberry Crest will travel to Durant on Tuesday, facing the top-seeded Cougars in the 7A-6 semifinal.

Newsome’s Braden Moon homered in his second-straight game (his seventh dinger) and was 3-for-4 with three RBI as the Wolves dispatched Haines City in five innings. Roman Bovelsky worked four scoreless innings for the Wolves, striking out six and allowing one hit. Newsome will travel east to face Winter Haven (17-8) in Tuesday’s district semifinal.

Sumner was pushed to the brink by Riverview, but walks piled up on the Sharks in the home-seventh, loading the bases and allowing Sebastian Peralta to play hero with an RBI, walk-off single – his fourth hit of the night. Winston Pennant was 3-for-4, with a homer and four RBI for the Stingrays, and Luke Parsons scored three times. Rhyan Yetman pitched the final 1 1/3 innings and earned a win in relief. Ryan Butner was 3-for-3, driving in five for the Sharks as Riverview scored six runs late in the game. Sumner will take on No. 2 seed Plant on the road on Tuesday at 7 pm.
