#5 Seffner Christian 8, Academy at the Lakes 4

Seffner Christian stretched out an early lead with a two-run double by Addy Scott, and RBI singles from Ethan Duncan and Kaleb Williams, but AATL brought it back to a single run with a four run fifth – highlighted by an RBI single by Jonathan Alvarez and a RBI sac fly by Vinnie VerPault. But the Crusaders secured the win with a three-run home-fifth with Cyrus Shokrani doubling in two runs. William Rudometkin held the Wildcats to two runs in his four innings on the mound and earned the win, Asher Stoltzfus struck out three in his two innings of relief, and Austin Trimble finished off the final inning 1-2-3.

Logan Mazur pitched a two-hit shutout, striking out six to lead Carrollwood Day to a semifinal win. Christian Clarke hit two triples, including driving in the deciding run in the third inning, and Nick Bonollo hit and inside-the-park home run. Carrollwood Day will be the host team against the top-seeded Seffner Christian Crusaders in Thursday’s 2A-10 final.

Lucas Cinnante (3.2ip, 2 BB, 3 K) and Trevor West (1.1ip, 4 K’s) pitched a five-inning no-hitter as the Crusaders defeated Brooks DeBartolo in five innings. Jose Carrero was 2-for-3, with a double, three RBI and two runs, Charlie Parker drove in three, while Ethan Frame and Daniel Smythe each drove in two runs. Tampa Catholic will host Berkeley Prep for the district final on Thursday.

Junior Carlos Rivera pitched 6 1/3 scoreless inning to lead the Lions to a district semifinal win, finishing with five strikeouts, before Caden Harrier worked two final outs to end the win. The Lions took control in the third when Anthony Lara led off with a double and was driven in on the first of two doubles from Nico Brown. Cooper Messenger singled in another in the frame and scored on a wild to give King enough insurance, and Nicholas Brown was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI single in the win.

Jefferson started the home-first with three-straight hits, including an RBI single from Cameron Copple (3-for-4, double, three runs, two RBI) to take the lead early. Isiah Fernandez was 3-for-4 with a double, two runs and an RBI, Cameron Mallo was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and Aliuq Troupe was 2-for-4, with a triple and a run.

Falcons junior Arley Duran struck out nine and held Armwood to one hit in a complete-game effort. Emilio Monje doubled in a pair of runs in the second to give Leto the lead, and Isaiah Quinonez (4-for-4) singled in a run in the fifth. Fabian Torres was 3-for-3 with a double and Gerard Ortega was 2-for-3. Alonzo Godwin pitched 2 2/3 scoreless innings of relief for Armwood, with three hits and three strikeouts.

Gaither and Wharton battled it out with two errors in the fifth giving the Cowboys the lead for good in a semifinal win against Wharton. Zach Callahan held the Wildcats to one unearned run in his 3 2/3 relief innings, and Anthony Linares earned the save with a strikeout and pop fly for the save. Jackson Mirza was 4-for-4 with a double, triple, run and RBI for the Cowboys, Nico Lopez was 3-for-4 with two runs and and RBI, and Kevin Brunet was 2-for-2 with an RBI. Justis Meadows went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer for Wharton.

Michael Bynum singled in a first-inning run and that was all Sickles starting pitcher Brandon Gonzales would need, firing six scoreless innings against Largo, with three strikeouts and four hits, before Nick Hartley finished off the game with two strikeouts for the save. The Gryphons worked three, two-out walks in the fourth and Jordan Yost added some insurance with a two-run single.

Palmette stretched out an insurmountable lead with a pair of three-run innings in the third and fourth and ended Lennard’s run in the district tournament. Hunter Sisk was 2-for-3 with a double and three RBI, and Aiden Collins was 2-for-2 with a two-run homer for the Tigers. RJ Torres was 2-for-3 with an RBI for the Longhorns, Mickie Locke was 2-for-4 with a double, and Sebastian Rojas was 2-for-3 with a run and RBI in the loss.

Bloomingdale pitcher Hayden Porter held Manatee to just two singles and a walk in his six innings of work, finishing with 10 strikeouts. Pierce Collins (2-for-2, BB) singled in a run in the first innings, Cooper Hinson drove in a run with a sac fly in the fifth, and Matthew Cleveland‘s two-run homer in the sixth salted away the win. Dawson Rankin struck out the side in the seventh, and Johnny De La Rosa (run) and Isaiah Perez each had two hits for the Bulls. Bloomingdale travels to Palmetto for the district final on Thursday.

#6 Newsome 6, Winter Haven 0

Wade Walton fired six-scoreless innings, allowing three hits and a walk while striking out a dozen to lead the Wolves to a victory on the road at Winter Haven. Ryan Spitzer (2-for-3) doubled and scored in the second inning, and the Wolves added two runs in each the fourth and fifth innings as a Joseph DiPietro (2-for-4, two runs) RBI double and a Cash Peterson (3-for-5) RBI single pushed out the lead.  Drew Mega had two hits and scored twice, Anthony DeVito was 2-for-4 with a double and RBI, and Ryan Spitzer was 2-for-3 with a double and a run in the win. Newsome will visit Durant on Thursday to decide the 7A-6 champion.

Brantley Hayward‘s three-run home run to left field put Durant on the path to victory against Strawberry Crest, and Chase Mobley struck out 10 in 5 1/3 innings of work, allowing two runs on five hits before giving way to Jack Brooks who finished out the win. Noah Morales was 2-for-3, scoring on the home run for the Cougars. Dillon Knight singled in the fourth for the Chargers and scored on a wild pitch, Akhil Nimmala singled and scored on a Kaden Kuracka sac fly, and Brayden DiCerb pitched the final two innings without allowing a hit or run.

Palm Harbor junior Brandon Dees held Alonso scoreless in a complete-game effort, working around six hits and three walks and finishing with six strikeouts as the Hurricanes defeated the Ravens in semifinal play. Kasey Mink doubled in the second inning and scored the deciding run on an error, and Cole Huddleston drove in a pair with a single in the fifth. Raymond Llanes, Carson Vega and Alvin Santiago each had two hits for the Ravens.
