Carrollwood Day picked up its program-best 25th win as the Patriots got a complete-game, four-hit shutout of region top seed Neumann from Nick Riedel. A two-out single by Ethan Heintz in the third brought in JD Howard, who was hit by a pitch; and Hientz was hit himself in the sixth, and scored an insurance run on a Christian Clarke (2-for-3) double to left. On top of his four strikeouts on the mound to improve to 7-1, Riedel also went 2-for-3 at the plate with a double in the win. The No. 4-seed Patriots will travel to face No. 2-seed Northside Christian on Tuesday, after the Mustangs defeated Fort Myers Canterbury, 7-0.

Sophomore Ben O’Brien held region top seed Calvary Christian to just four hits in a complete-game shutout, earning Berkeley Prep a spot in Tuesday’s region final at Fort Myers Bishop Verot. O’Brien struck out five while issuing a single walk and needing just 90 pitches to foil the state’s 11th ranked team (according to the FHSAA). Lucas Farrar sent a ground ball to first with he bases loaded in the second inning to get the Buccaneers on the board with the deciding run, and Berkeley Prep sealed the win with a five-run fifth started with a leadoff double by Nolan Metcalf, and highlighted by RBI singles from Jett Walters (two RBI), George Cook, and Farrar. Dave Parker scored twice in the win.
