Crusaders senior RHP Dominic Woodward

The Crusaders remain on top for the second-straight weeks, as TC’s pitching staff held three opponents to just nine hits and one earned run in 21 innings pitched. Lucas Cinnante picked up his second win of the season with nine Ks against SLAM; Drew Dunlop fanned eight in a win against BDCHS; and Dominic Woodward punched out 11 in his first start and win of the year. Junior catcher Cole Bitman doubled and homered, while driving in three runs last week.

2. Jesuit (4-1)

Tigers sophomore RHP Samir Mohammed

Jesuit had a week to sit with its close loss to Calvary Christian two Friday’s ago, before heading north to Savannah, Ga. for a round-robin event where the Tigers bullied its three opponents by a combined 28-8. Samir Mohammed was 4-for-6, with a pair of home runs and four RBI, while also earning a win against Benedictine on the mound; Wilson Andersen struck out nine in 4 1/3 shutout innings against GAC on Friday; and senior Robby Santana went 5-for-8 with a double, five RBI and three runs scored over the weekend. Homers from Colin Kenny and Christian Sheffield on the week as well. Tigers remain in the No. 2 spot for the second week.

Bulls sophomore Braxton Wilken

Bloomingdale moves up three spots from last week’s rankings. In the Bulls first Week 2 game, Javier Navas-Hoyer held East Bay to two hits and a walk in six shutout innings, while striking out eight; and then Vaughn Osting kept Plant at bay in our Week 2 Game of the Week. In both games, sophomore Braxton Wilken had a hit and an RBI in both wins last week.

4. Newsome (4-1)

Newsome senior Aidan Dolan

The Wolves make a big jump up eight spots this week, after going on the road for three wins in Week 2. The week was closed out with a tremendous 6 2/3 innings from Aidan Dolan, where the senior struck out 12 against Gaither. Newsome traded punches with Lennard to start the week, scoring on Alex Chin’s (6-for-11, six RBI on the week) third hit and RBI in the seventh to take a one-run win. Against Tech, Cameron Wood (W, 3ip, R, 6 Ks), Cooper Topp (3ip, 7 Ks), and Joe Calabria (1ip, 3 Ks) combined for 16 strikeouts.

5. Gaither (4-1)

Cowboys junior Matt Altman held the Warriors to just one run on three hits, while striking out nine in four innings, before Jackson Mirza finished off the final three innings with no hits and six punchouts. Gaither mercy-ruled Middleton as Nate Greico hit his first home run, before dropping a tough game to Newsome to close out the week. The Cowboys slip two spots this week, but remain in the Top 5 with a three-game week ahead.

Plant junior RHP Rhett Dixon

The Panthers split last week, putting up a big first-inning run total at Leto and relying on strong pitching from Nick Townley (5ip, 2 hits, three Ks) and Aidan Voeller (2ip, BB, 3 Ks) to shutout the Falcons. The Panthers fall two spots after being edged by Bloomingdale by a run despite some solid hitting from Danny Cerelli (2-for-2, 2 RBI, 2B, BB) and a strong relief outing by Rhett Dixon (3.2ip, 0 runs, 3 hits, K).

7. Jefferson (3-1)

The Dragons leap into the rankings with a pair of wins last week, scoring a pair of runs in the seventh off a slew of Crest mistakes after getting a tremendous relief appearance from Ethan Savinon, who yielded one unearned run on one hit and struck out nine; then taking out Chamberlain on Thursday behind 10 hits  – including a 2-for-2, two RBI game from Jaylen Watts.

8. Wharton (4-1)

Wharton senior OF Antonio Fawcett

The Wildcats took care of King and Brandon, but dropped a one-run decision to Sumner in Week 2 and fall three spots on this list. Chase Andress hit his first high school home run in the win against King; Antonio Fawcett doubled and homered against Sumner; and Chase Anello and Justis Meadows each drove in four runs with a double and triple apiece at Brandon.

9. Sickles (3-2)

The Gryphons battled it out with Robinson, before breaking through with a monster seventh inning for a double-digit win, then Sickles picked up a solid win at Durant last week with Jaden Nazar going 5-for-8, with a homer, two doubles and seven RBI. Jake Taylor held Durant to one earned over four innings to pick up the win on the mound, and was relieved by Brandon Gonzales – each picking up four strikeouts.

10. Durant (2-2)

Durant split its two games for the second-straight week, but do a little climbing with attrition on the list this week. In Durant’s 3-2 win against Riverview, Brody Lissy was 2-for-3 with a two-run double to push his team over the Sharks, behind a strong start on the mound by Aiden Junttila (3.2ip, 0 hits, 8 Ks). Durant only got one hit in a loss against Sickles on Thursday. Two road games ahead for the Cougars, likely needing a pair of wins to hang on to a spot in the Top 10.
