#14 Gaither 1
East Bay senior Mike Mowell allowed just one Gaither run in a complete game five-hit effort, while striking out four. The Cowboys got on the board in the first when David Pina walked, stole two bases and scored on an Anthony Linares sac fly. But the Indians answered back, tying the game in the third when M Mathis lead off the inning with a single lined to right and scored on a double from E Cunningham lined to left. Cunningham followed up a D Reyes single in the fifth with an RBI single lined to right to give East Bay the lead for good. The win makes six-straight for East Bay.

But Martin Galo finished off the game, striking out the only batter he would face. The difference on the scoreboard came in the fourth, when Nicholas Brown led off with a double and scored on a double-play ball. Myles Wagner struck out three for the Longhorns in three no-hit innings; Myles Wagner allowed the deciding run, but worked two innings and struck out a pair; and Pablo Garcia had one strikeout and allowed one hit in his two innings of relief.

Bloomingdale junior Javier Navas-Hoyer spun a complete-game, striking out 10, while holding Robinson to just three hits and one run on a solo homer from Samuel Hyman (3-for-3) to left in the fourth inning. But by that point the Bulls had done enough damage as Izzy Perez belted a homer to left in the first, and an error and a Mason Johnson RBI groundout pushed the lead out enough. Knights senior Nathan Porath took the loss, but held the Bulls to just two earned runs on two hits.

Plant City 1
Wharton’s Chase Andress dealt for six innings, holding Plant City to just two hits and struck out eight, and the Wildcats offense rewarded him with two crooked-number innings of support. Justis Meadows singled to start the third and after a hit batter, Chase Anello‘s double got Wharton on the board, then an error all but sealed the win allowing two more in the frame. Andress would help his cause in the sixth, doubling in a pair in a four-run inning. Three Raiders singles produced a run in the seventh when Lane Baxter sent an RBI groundball to right, but that was all the offense PC could muster in the final frame. Hagan Smith took the loss allowing two earned runs in five innings, but did finish with eight strikeouts.

Steinbrenner 4
Sickles’ Jake Taylor pitched three, no-hit innings as the Gryphons built up an early lead and held off Steinbrenner’s late charge. JJ Nazar doubled in a pair in the first; Connor Bly doubled and scored on a balk in the second; and Braden Ross doubled in the third and scored on a triple by Brandon Gonzales to build out a strong lead. Steinbrenner answered with two in the fourth when Chase Petker doubled and Mason Koumas drove in two with an up-the-middle single. But the Gryphons pushed the game out far enough with an RBI ground out by Emilio Salgado, and later added more on a Charlie Martz two-run triple and a Jordan Yost RBI double. Steinbrenner tried to fight back in it in the final inning, getting two runs on a bases loaded walk followed by a hit batter, but the Gryphons got out of it with the tying run on deck.
