1. Bloomingdale (13-3)

Last Week: Loss, 6-4 v Jefferson; Win, 3-2 v East Bay; Win, 10-1 Carrollwood Day; Win, 3-0 v Strawberry Crest
The 2025 Saladino Gold Division Champions bounced back from a Monday loss to Jefferson to win its pool, then handled business in a big win against CDS and a championship shutout delivered by Javier Navas-Hoyer (6.2ip, 1 H, 12 Ks; Touranment Co-MVP) and closed out by Vaughn Osting. Isaiah Perez had three doubles, two homers and nine RBI on the week; AJ Cruz was 5-for-11 with two doubles, three RBI and three runs on the week; and Luke Long pitched a complete game in the semifinal win over the Patriots.
This Week: vs Riverview (Tues); at Sumner (Thurs); vs Chamberlain (Sat)

2. Jesuit (13-4)

Jesuit junior Cannon Murtagh

Last Week: Loss, 3-1 at IMG; Win, 14-0 v Green Cove Springs Clay; Win, 3-2 v Jacksonville Trinity Christian
The Tigers just couldn’t seem to get the timely hit against MaxPreps Florida No. 1 IMG Academy, but Jesuit took care of business in wins over Clay and Trinity Christian. Vincent DeCarlo was 5-for-10 on the week, driving in four runs against Clay; Samir Mohammed held the Blue Devils to just three hits (5Ks in four innings); Wilson Andersen and Cannon Murtagh homered; Ryan Thompson struck out seven against Trinity before turning the ball over to Ben Burke, who though hampered some by a hamstring injury has been outstanding in relief this season, pitching eight scoreless innings with no walks and 19 Ks. Jesuit’s schedule this week? Ho-hum (kidding), just a visit from Florida No. 2 Stoneman Douglas (four-straight state titles), No. 13 The First Academy, and Round 2 with Tampa Catholic.
This Week: v Parkland Douglas (Tues); v Orlando The First Academy (Thurs); at Tampa Catholic (Fri)

T-3. Newsome (13-3)

Wolves sophomore C Evan Plusquellic

Last Week: Win, 4-0 v King; Win, 4-2 v Plant; Win, 3-1 v Gaither
A tie is kind of a cop-out, I know. But we need a week for this to shake out a bit. The Wolves hold a 9-0 win this year over the Chargers, and despite an ugly loss to Durant to start the Saladino, Newsome closed out the tournament well. After that loss though, the Wolves took care of business and were very close to advancing to semifinal play. Aiden Dolan struck out 10 in four shutout innings against King, and JP Glassford fanned 14 in six innings of work against Gaither. Evan Plusquellic drove in three in the win over the Panthers. The Wolves will get a chance to avenge that Saladino opening loss when it again travels to Durant on Thursday, bookended between home games with Spoto and Robinson.
This Week: v Spoto (Tues); at Durant (Thurs); v Robinson (Sat)

T-3. Strawberry Crest (12-4)

Strawberry Crest’s Reuben Vasquez

Last Week: Win, 6-0 v Alonso; Win, 16-13 v Lennard; Win, 8-3 v Plant; Loss, 3-0 v Bloomingdale
The Chargers offense couldn’t figure out Bloomingdale’s Navas-Hoyer, but everyone else it faced it solved really well. Brisen Tweedy paired a no-hitter with that offense against Alonso on Monday, striking out six and issuing one walk, while Chase Conti (Tourney Co-MVP) continued his hot-streak at the plate picking up four of his seven hits on the week, five of his nine RBI, and two of his six doubles. Reuben Vasquez went 7-for-11 on the week, with six RBI and five runs scored, while Yusvanny Parra delivered six shutout innings in the semifinal win against Plant.
This Week: at Tampa Bay Tech (Tues); at Bishop McLaughlin (Wed); v Middleton (Fri)

5. Berkeley Prep (13-4)

Last Week: Win, 6-3 v Ft Pierce John Carroll; Win, 15-3 v Dade Christian; Loss, 4-2 v Key West
The Buccaneers went 2-1 during its spring break trip to Florida’s southern most point. Parker Mitzel struck out eight against John Carroll, and had doubles in the Bucs other two games; Josh Herrmann had an inside-the-park home run, two doubles and five RBI on the week; and Rivers Kurland struck out 11 in the win over Dade Christian.
This Week: at Northside Christian (Tues); v Carrollwood Day (Fri); at Sarasota Mooney (Sat)

6. Plant (12-4)

Last Week: Win, 8-0 v Durant; Loss, 4-2 v Newsome; Loss, 8-3 v Strawberry Crest
Nick Townley was outstanding in his 6 1/3 innings against Durant on Monday, striking out five and allowing just three hits as the Panthers pulled away early. Wyatt Patterson batted .500 on the week for the Panthers; while Jackson Cucchi and Jordan Olivia homered. Plant advanced out of its pool due to the runs-allowed tie-breaker and took an early lead against Crest, but couldn’t get to reliever Yusvanny Parra. An always-excited showdown with Sickles is set for South Tampa on Thursday.
This Week: v Blake (Tues); v Sickles (Thurs); v TB Tech (Sat)

7. Tampa Catholic (14-4)

Last Week: Win, 4-3 (11) v Carrollwood Day; Loss, 5-3 v Armwood; Win, 5-4 v Sumner
Jose Carrero’s walk-off two-run home run won the game against CDS and he finished the week with a two-run double to give the Crusaders the win against Sumner on Wednesday. Lucas Cinnante held CDS to one run over 5 1/3 innings, while striking out three, and had two doubles on the week.
This Week: v Brooks DeBartolo (Tues); v Jesuit (Fri)

8. Alonso (11-5)

Last Week: Loss, 6-0 v Strawberry Crest; Win, 10-2 v Sumner; Win, 14-6 v Sickles
The Ravens offense bounced right back from Monday’s no-hit loss to Crest, smashing out 24 runs on 20 hits in the next two wins to close out the Saladino Tournament. Sophomore Noah Renew struck out four and allowed just one unearned run in six innings against the Stingrays to earn his first varsity win; Ihonathan Perez was 3-for-5 against Sumner; and Aidan Sansing went 2-for-3 with a double, three RBI and two runs against the Gryphons. The Ravens go right back at it with a trip to Sickles tomorrow.
This Week: at Sickles (Tues); v Leto (Thurs); at Plant City (Sat)

9. Sickles (11-5)

Last Week: Win, 4-3 (8) v Armwood; Loss, 2-0 v Carrollwood Day; Loss, 14-6 v Alonso
Sickles had to battle to extra-inning wins in the first to Saladino games, and didn’t have any answer for the breaking ball of CDS’ Nick Riedel to close out pool-play on Tuesday. Brandon Gonzales singled to lead off the home-eighth for the Gryphons against the Hawks, and eventually ended the game when he scored on a wild pitch. Jake Taylor had four hits on the week, and struck out six in his seven innings of work against CDS; while Peter Tsikouris had seven strikeouts in a no-decision against Armwood. The Gryphons have a rubber-match against Alonso, a visit from state powerhouse Stoneman Douglas and its annual showdown with Plant in three consecutive nights, you know, a light week.
This Week: v Alonso (Tues); v Parkland Douglas (Wed); at Plant (Thurs)

10. Wharton (13-3)

Last Week: Win, 8-5 v Leto; Loss, 4-3 v Plant City; Win, 12-8 v Robinson
Sometimes the rally goes your way, and sometimes it doesn’t. Wharton traded leads with Leto before pulling out a late win, but saw Plant City answer it’s three-run sixth with a four-run home half knocking the Wildcats out of the Saladino Silver championship game. Wharton showed its grit in the consolation round however, after falling behind Robinson seven runs only to battle back for a 12-8 victory. Antonio Fawcett homered in both wins, Drew Cobb homered against the Falcons and Justis Meadows had hits in all three games, including a home run and six RBI while passing the 100-career hit mark.
This Week: v Freedom (Tues); at Chamberlain (Thurs); at Leto (Sat)

On the Bubble

11. Gaither (11-7)
12. Jefferson (10-5)
13. Carrollwood Day (10-6)
14. Durant (9-5)
15. Steinbrenner (10-7)
