After the host Stingrays took the early lead on an RBI single from Sebastian Peralta single to center that scored Wilson Pennant (double), Bloomingdale tied the game in the second on an RBI single by Saul Aponte, then took control with three runs in the third on an RBI double from Izzy Perez, a sac fly by Braxton Wilken, and and RBI sac bunt by Mason Johnson. AJ Cruz stole two bases and scored twice in the win, and Vinny Dinzeo Jr. was 2-for-3.

Samir Mohammed struck out seven after the Royals scored two runs (one earned in the first) earning his third win of the year and going six innings; Ben Burke K’d a pair in his relief appearance to earn his fourth save; Robby Santana went 2-for-4 with a run and RBI; and Bryce Besece had a double.

Hits were at a premium in East Hillsborough, but Newsome’s Anthony DeVito made the most of his lone hit, belting a two-run homer to right in the fifth inning to help the Wolves defeat the Cougars. Senior JP Glassford pitched all seven for Newsome, allowing two unearned on two hits and striking out nine. Those two Durant singles – from Brantley Hayward and Brody Lissy in the fourth inning – turned into runs after an error. Tristan Macpherson pitched four innings in a no-decision for the Cougars, not allowing a hit, but walking five and giving up one earned, while striking out eight.

Spoto answered an East Bay scoring third with five runs in the home-half to win at home. Jackson Rana‘s RBI single and an error spotted the Indians a two-run lead, before Greg Hornsby led off the bottom of the third with a single and Levert Sims Jr plated him with a triple. From there the Spartans passed the baton with RBI hits from Devin Dukes and Keywan Massie (double) around an RBI sac bunt by David Ruiz, and finally an Eli Sims run-scoring single. Both teams traded sixth inning runs (RBI sac fly for East Bay’s Rowland Ruiz Jr. and a RBI single Hornsby); and Kelvin Ochoa earned the save with two innings of no-hit relief.

Plant City scored five in the third and held off Brandon for a win at home. Brenham Hay doubled in the third inning and scored on a Drew Cothren single, then a pair of passed balls and a Hagan Smith RBI single sealed the victory before the end of the inning. Hay, who also had an RBI single in the win pitched four innings, allowed three runs and struck out six while earning the victory for the Raiders, and Merrick Smith recorded the final four outs to earn the save. For the Eagles, Charles Revi-Rodriguez went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Jordan Yost (1-for-2, 2 runs) scored on a Nazar single in the third, Plant’s Urban Ellis led off the home-fourth with a double and scored on one of Bo Allen‘s two doubles in the game, and Ellis drove in a pair with a single in the fifth.

Hillsborough pitchers Adriano Parral (5.2ip, 10 Ks) and Chase Dennis (1.1ip) combined for a no-hitter, but walks stacked up and a sacrifice fly to deep center gave King a pair of seventh inning runs and rewarded a seven-inning, four-hit, 13-strikout performance from Owen Leever for the Lions with a win.

Freedom got some key two-out hitting in the top of the seventh to win on the road, holding off Armwood with the bases loaded to end the game. Ryan Acord singled in a run to give the Patriots the lead for good, then Connor Cress hit his third single of the game to extend the game and Parker Crafton added a necessary insurance run with an RBI double. Zalen Hicks (single), Javier Suniaga (double) and Rhys Brush (intentional BB) loaded the bases with one out in the home-seventh for the Hawks, and Armwood cut the deficit to one run when Princeton Clark plated his third run of the game with a ground ball, but Gaige Spano got out of the game with a fly ball out. David Simpkins pitched 5 2/3 innings for the Patriots, allowing two runs and striking out six in a no-decision, and Ryan Yetman pitched all seven for the Hawks allowing three earned and striking out five.

The four-time defending 7A state champion Stoneman Douglas Eagles scored three runs before Sickles recorded the first out of the game, but Gryphons senior Brandon Gonzales worked out of further damage with help from his damage. Jordan Yost cut into the lead driving in Zach Dial (2-for-4) in the third, then Gonzales helped his cause with a three-run homer to left (his fourth of the year) to give the Gryphons the lead for good. He added an RBI sac fly in the fifth, and Dial pitched the final three innings, earning the save and holding the Stoneman Douglas to one run and stopping a win streak for the Eagles at 16 games.
