King 2
T-#2 Newsome 1
A dropped third strike with two outs allowed King’s Xavier Gori (single) to rush home and break a tie giving the Lions the lead at home in the fourth inning and junior starting pitcher Owen Leever (Win; 5.2ip, 1 R, 3 H, 6K) would work through another inning and two thirds before senior Caden Harrier (1 BB, 2 K) would lock down the save recording the final four outs. Newsome’s JP Glassford struck out nine in four innings, allowing one earned run on three hits, and Isaiah Sanchez held King hitless for two innings. King scored in the second when Nico Brown led off with a double to right and later scored on a Martin Galo ground ball; and Newsome briefly tied the game in the top-fourth on an Ocean Cozart RBI sac fly.

#12 Jefferson 5
#7 Wharton 2
Wharton took an early lead on the road on back-to-back doubles from Justis Meadows and Drew Cobb, followed by a Chase Anello RBI single, but Jefferson put up steady runs and Ethan Savinon (Win; 6ip, 2 R, 4 H, 7 K) controlled things from the mound as the Dragons won for the fourth-straight time. Savinon led off the second with a single, was replaced by speed up Elijah Benton, who would cut the deficit in half on an error; older brother Ja’Marques Benton single and scored on an error to tie it in the third; Jefferson pulled away with singles from Kaiden Johnson and Nate Brewer to start the fourth and two runs scoring on a wild pitch; and Johnson would single again, be replaced by runner Eric Pelaez Jr. who would score, allowing Johnson time to warm up and come in for the 1-2-3 final inning save.

Alonso took a first-inning, two-run lead on an Alvin Santiago RBI single and a dropped third strike, as Chargers senior Brisen Tweedy hit a pair of batters early. But from there Crest’s ace was steady, striking out eight and allowing just two more singles in a complete-game win. The Chargers took control in the fourth, Chase Conti (2-for-2) led off with a single, Tweedy doubled, then Toby Highsmith and Tripp House both singled in runs to tie the game, and an error allowed the deciding run. Lemont (Ill) 4
#4 Berkeley Prep 2
After allowing a first inning unearned run to Illinois’ Lemont, Berkeley Prep drew the game even with a Joseph Troupe RBI single in the sixth inning. But errors again proved costly as Lemont pounced on two misplayed balls to scored a three-spot in the seventh and hold off Berkeley Prep with the winning run at the plate to end the game. Senior Rivers Kurland struck out 12 and was charged with the loss, allowing six hits and a walk to go with four unearned runs; Lucas Farrar was 2-for-4 with a run scored; and Carson Binder was 2-for-4.
