Sickles 6

Jaden Nazar (RBI single), Brandon Gonzales (RBI double) and Zach Dial (RBI single) got things going for Sickles in the first inning – as each would have multi-hit games for the Gryphons in a region semifinal opening win against district rival East Lake. Gonzales cruised early on the mound, working around four singles in the first four innings before the Eagles finally scored on a two-run single up the middle by Dylan Taft. But by that point, the Gryphons built up the lead with an RBI double from Dial, a bases loaded walk drawn by Charlie Martz, and Jordan Yost reaching on a single in the fourth and scoring on a wild pitch. Ben Durda worked the final inning for Sickles, allowing one walk, but striking out a pair. The two teams return to action on Thursday from Sickles at 7 pm for Game 2.
