Alonso wins series 2-0

Alonso 4
Sarasota 1

Ravens senior Bryan Alonso held Sarasota in check for six innings, allowing one run on three hits and struck out six as Alonso High advanced to next week’s region final. The Ravens scored three in the fourth inning, setup by a Jordan Brautigam double, a single from Alonso (3-for-3) and the first run scoring on a Jordan Campos fielder’s choice. The lead would get extended on an RBI double from Joshua Ibrahante, who would score on an error. Sarasota would answer with a leadoff triple from Patrick Drymon in the home-half and an RBI sac fly by Jorge Rodriguez; but the pitcher would help his own cause on offense when his third hit of the game drove in an insurance run. Marcelo Diaz Villalon would take over for the Ravens on the mound and work a clean seventh inning with two strikeouts. Alonso will again travel south for next week’s region final where the No. 7-seed Ravens will take on No. 1 Venice with Game 1 on Wednesday at 7:30 pm.
