Bloomingdale scored four runs in the first three innings to win on the road at Lake Minneola and advance to next week’s region final. Senior Vinny Dinzeo Jr.‘s RBI single in the first inning plated one run and an error on the same play allowed a second run, before the Bulls added two more in the third on a two-out double by Cesar Campos and another run on a passed ball. Junior RHP Vaughn Osting pitched 5 1/3 innings, allowing two runs and striking out eight. The Hawks got a leadoff double in the sixth and after his final strikeout, Osting was replaced by Luke Long who worked the final five outs, allowing one hit and striking out one to earn the save. No. 1-seed Bloomingdale will host No. 2-seed Viera for two games in the best-of-three region final beginning next Wednesday at 7 pm.

Sickles senior Jaden Nazar hit a three-run homer to left giving the Gryphons all it would need in a deciding Game 3 region semifinal win over East Lake. Connor Bly held the Eagles to one hit (a Camden Boehm double) for five innings, while striking out three, and Ben Durda allowed just one single over the final two innings. Jordan Yost went 2-for-3, with a two-run single in the sixth, Jake Taylor was 1-for-2, with two walks, scored the first run and drove in a run in the fourth, and Brandon Gonzales hit his team-leading sixth home run in the seventh inning. Top seed Sickles will host the first two games of the best-of-three region final series against Wharton beginning next Wednesday.

Wharton won the third and deciding slugfest of the region semifinal series against Plant with two big innings. The Panthers jumped out early with a Cash Strayer (2-for-4) solo home run (his eighth) and a passed ball, but the Wildcats immediately answered scoring three in the home-first highlighted by Chase Anello‘s two-run homer (his fourth). The panthers would tie the game on a Brody Vermette double and retake the lead on a Bo Allen single in the third, but Wharton would put the game out of reach in the fifth, first tying the game on an RBI Drew Cobb single, then taking the lead on a Justis Meadows RBI double. The Wildcats would build up the lead a bit more with a Chase Andress sac fly, and an RBI double by Jairius Morris, and Daniel Duno would pitch three scoreless innings of relief to earn the win. Wharton will face No.1-seed Sickles in next week’s region final.
