VIERA – Bloomingdale is headed back to the state final four for the second-straight season, as the Bulls defeated Viera on the road in Game 3 of the Class 6A-Region 2 final series.

The Bulls (28-6) got seventh inning singles from Payton Jennings (1-for-3, run) and Trey Baker (2-for-2, run) and junior Isaiah Perez sent a two-out, RBI double into right field to give Bloomingdale the late edge.

Bulls junior Isaiah Perez doubled in the winning run in the top of the seventh.

Junior Vaughn Osting pitched 6 2/3 innings to earn his eighth win of the year, allowing two unearned runs, working around three hits and four walks, while striking out nine. Osting reached his pitch-count limit and Luke Long entered in relief for the third time in as many games, and gave up a double before wrapping up the save with a fly out to rightfield.

Bloomingdale took a two-run lead in the third with Vinny Dinzeo Jr. driving in the first run on a single, and Payton Jennings scored on a passed ball. But Viera answered with one in the home-third and another run in the fifth, both helped out by Bulls errors.

The Bulls were state semifinalists last season, falling to Gainesville Buchholz; and are seeking the program’s second state title – previously winning in 2021.
