Freedom 11
Sumner 10 – nine innings

Freedom answered Sumner taking a ninth-inning lead, fighting for a win as the Stingrays did almost everything to stop them. After three walks and a single led to a brief extra-inning lead for Sumner, Freedom got it’s first batter aboard on a third-strike/passed ball, but two batters later the Stingrays’ pitcher Jaylin Chambers fielded a bunt and got an out at the plate. But that also put a runner on base for Devon Acord to tie the game with a triple into centerfield, and a David Simpkins single through third base earned the Patriotsa walk-off (a career first for fourth-year head coach Dane Moore), and sealed a three-win week. For the Patriots, Parker Crafton was 2-for-5, with two runs and two RBI; Keven Made went 2-for-3 with a run and RBI; and Luke Ledford entered in the top of the 10th with the bases loaded and got a fly out, then an umpire appeal to third was ruled an out, and Ledford got a strikeout for the third out and was rewarded with the win. Winston Pennant was 2-for-4 with a triple and two RBI for Sumner; Dainkel Berrios was 2-for-4 with two RBI; Isaiah Romano went 2-for-3, with a double, two walks and three runs scored; and Jackson Salisbury struck out seven in four innings on the mound.

#2 Bloomingdale 5
Steinbrenner 3

Bloomingdale’s offense mustered only one hit through the first four innings, until Saul Aponte‘s solo shot to left in the fifth woke things up a bit and the Bulls stayed undefeated at Steinbrenner. The Warriors got on the board early as Will Hoblitzel doubled and Gavin Mix (2-for-3, RBI, run) did the same; Steinbrenner built up the lead in the fourth as a Mix led off with a single, followed by a Coby Moesching hit and an RBI sac fly by Gavin Schultz and the final Warriors’ run on a passed ball. But it was the fifth where the Bulls would turn the game, with Aponte collecting his third hit with an RBI single, Mason Johnson driving in a run with a sac fly, and a bases-loaded walk adding some insurance. Moesching worked five innings allowing three runs on six hits and had two strikeouts for Steinbrenner; and Javier Navas-Hoyer pitched four inning for the bulls allowing four hits and two earned, before Isaiah Perez delivered three scoreless innings to earn the win, with two hits allowed and three strikeouts.
