Brandon 4
Chamberlain 3
Brandon’s Francis Ovalles singled in two in the fifth inning to tie the game, then the Eagles pulled ahead as walks stacked up on Chamberlain and Logan Edwards scored on a wild pitch in the sixth. Entering in relief in the third, Eagles pitcher Ryan Shea gave up an RBI double to Chamberlain’s Nahz Taylor; followed immediately by Taylor taking third on a wild pitch and scoring on a steal of home. But from there Shea allowed just two more hits to earn the win, finishing with five strikeouts. Nicolas Rodriguez went 2-for-2 with a run for the Eagles; and David Ruiz was 2-for-3.

Hillsborough 11
Armwood 7 – eight innings
Hillsborough got things going with two outs in the eighth inning, scoring four runs to claim a back-and-forth showdown at Armwood. After taking the lead on a bases-loaded hit batter, Juan Pena cleared the bases with a double for some added insurance. The Hawks loaded the bases in the home-eighth, but couldn’t answer the Terriers rally. Hillsborough took an early lead in the first, as Pena collected the first two of his five RBI on the night, and Chase Dennis’ sac fly plated a run, then had an RBI single and hit a home run in the win. Rocco Sabella was 2-for-4 with a double, two runs scored, and picked up the win, allowed one unearned run on two hits and three walks, pitched four innings and struck out four. Kyler Swindal‘s RBI single started a Hawks rally in the fourth, where Armwood would take the lead thanks to a series of passed balls; Evan Aronson scored twice, and doubled in the loss.
