Five of Wharton’s eight hits in the game were doubles including one from Jake Turer in the first, and a bases clearing two-bagger from Caden Long. But from there, Plant senior Michael Hawks settled in on the mound, finishing four innings as Plant took control with three runs in the second and two in the third – both sparked by a pair of two-run homers from Kirk Kolono. Trey Freeman had two hits in the win, including an RBI single, and Rocco Demarinis hit his second home run of the season in the sixth.
